For those with time, our very own @roguemat did an AMA over on the Xbox subreddit.

I haven’t finished reading the entire AMA, but some interesting and cool comments and answers.

Our weight isn’t actually measured in kilograms. Weight is measured in Newtons. Mass is kilograms. So we weight for example 100 Newtons (what we call kilograms). To get our mass (in actual kilograms) you divide your weight by 9.8. So someone with a weight of 100 actually has a mass of 90.2kg.

Correction: 100 divided by 9.8 is not 90.2, it 10.2. Thanks @DieGrootHammer for pointing that out. So your mass will be 10.2 kg

The problem is that while mass is the same everywhere on earth, weight is not - it can vary as much as 0.7% from the North Pole (heavy) to the mountains of Peru (light). This is in part caused by the rotation of the earth, and in part by the fact that the earth’s surface is not (quite) a sphere.

meh, useless info

so if I want to lose weight I need to go to Peru and avoid the north pole?
