ahhh okay.
What will it be used for? Made with your own machines?
Morning! I had such an interesting drive back home from work. Took 3 times longer than usual
First, I managed to leave work 90 minutes earlier, because it was remarkably quiet. Yayā¦
5 minutes into my drive, all the oncoming traffic is flashing me and indicating that I should turn around. Literally everyone in the oncoming traffic. Iāve never seen such unity on the road and figured something serious must be going on, especially after the rain last night - could one of the bridges I cross have collapsed? Is it flooded? Was there a severe accident? Is it merely a roadblock ahead? My mind was racing, but I decided to heed their warning, I wasnāt really keen on getting stuck on whatever was lying ahead, I was awake pretty much the whole night.
So I turn around. Thereās a detour. 2 legs of a triangle. No biggy. Travelling along this beautiful new route Iāve never taken before, I get to the point where my usual route joins my new detour.
Police. Nyalaās (looked like it?) Guns. Fire. The road destroyed and blocked by stones and stuff ahead.
Another protest, of course. Canāt drive through the townships today, as those roads are also blocked.
Ag nee
Iām not turning around. Following my tracks back to the main road and taking ANOTHER detour is going to take at least 40 minutes, and itās so much further, Iām already probably 30% in terms of distance travelled.
Officer says the dirt road is decent enough, Iāll be able to take it. (I drive a Kia Picanto)
So I take it. Along with a Ford Ranger, a Pajero and an old Corsa bakkie. What could go wrong?
The Ranger and Pajero cruised off and by the first bend, they are long gone. Me and the Corsa bakkie struggle on. Weāre joined by a Figo.
Itās wet, muddy. At one point I stop, looking at how the poor Corsa is spinning and sliding through quite a long stretch of mud, contemplating that I should just turn around, take the longer, safer route.
After spinning nowhere, sliding sideways, reversing for what itās worth, the Corsa made it through.
Obviously, he shouldnāt have gone through that puddle but shouldāve aimed for that grass patch with a little more speedā¦
YOLO!
I proceed, with my newfound thumb suck 4x4 offroad wisdom. My car takes a rest on that grass patch and it simply refuses to continue. Like a pregnant lady on a rooftop during Mozam flood. Forward, backward, nothing. No use in waiting for help from above. I get out. Iām sure if you look at a problem from a distance, a solution will be revealed.
Looking back, I see the rear end of that Figo. Bye.
Looking ahead, a proper plaasbakkie is approaching. Yes, I need help, donāt ask stupid questions.
A Yaris is approaching from behind, and āparksā a few meters behind me. A lady gets out, walks up to me and starts to chat. Sheās sick, heading to the doctor. Taking into consideration where we currently are, where sheās coming from, and where she says sheās going, I cannot comprehend why exactly sheās here, on this road. Unless sheās going to a different type of ādoctorā? Anyways, Iām not going to challenge her on that fact.
Michael has tied a rope to my car and the back of his bakkie. Heāll just pull me off this holy grass patch and weāll be on our way. He makes light work of the issue - Iām off, supposedly free. But Michael is going strong. That Yaris is coming closer. I hit the brakes. Lol. Canāt believe I thought it would make a difference. Michael and his plaasbakkie wants to go, so weāre going. And that Yaris is coming closer. Flip.
I go full-blown crazy, waving like a madman, almost climbing out through my window. Heāll never hear me scream through all the noise. Luckily. I donāt do screaming.
The Yaris stops coming closer. We stop.
I get educated on how to continue. He assures me this is the worst part of the road, itās better ahead. I try again, I pass just left of the holy patch, and succeed. The Yaris short on my tail.
There was another long section of thick mud that I got through (thank you momentum). I wait for the Yaris. Mrs Yaris got stuck but managed to reverse out. I tell her how to get through, but she insists I should drive her car through. I get through. Feel like a professional 4x4 driver again.
With my ego restored, the rest of the drive was great, I enjoyed the views of the nature reserve on the left and the farms on the right. Got home, about 90 minutes after I left work.
Was fun, wouldnāt do it again.
Is it too early for a beer?
Haha you wrote that well and itās an interesting story!
What kind of a silly question is that?
The Road less traveled !
I know Iām sad about it. But got some new developments at work and had to sort some shit out
Next time
absolutely
Its part of a machine that skins fish.
<3 My Star Wars collection of stuff is getting huge!
Have any of you bought from Wish before?
Heard the same.
Had someone I know order from them last month.
They claim the products were delivered, but there is nothing.
It means its landed in SA, now it will take 5 days at customs and then 2 months at the post office.
Yeah, I think that has more to do with the post office. Ordered something that was in the country in August 2016, still havenāt received it. Luckily the company I ordered from sent it again via courier cause they said they know the SA post office is full of shit.
Nope, apparently cleared customs all that and was delivered to the door
Ok that is a different scenario then.
There is no way that it was delivered within a month - Wish packets take 2 months minimum.
They track parcels only until it lands in SA - for them that is delivered. Be on the lookout for it in a month or two.
We had a parcel from Gearbest ordered in Nov only arrive early Feb
Ja i ordered from them, took forever to get the parcels but after i queried it i got refunded no problems. my items did arrive after the refund and were not what the picture stated. i ordered cat collars and got dog collars that were to big for my cats
