I was so happy that we finally got fibre but so far it has been poor. Packet loss and today there’s no internet connection at all.

And the worst is there’s no other way to contact Vodacom than to phone them.

It was a Vodacom contractor. It’s on their infrastructure. I phoned them though and it sounds like the whole area there by me is down. Don’t know if it’s up yet, will check tonight.

I’m a bit scared of moving away from BitCo. People can say what they want about wireless internet but BitCo is one of the companies with the best support I’ve ever had the pleasure of dealing with. For instance at one point we were hit by lightning and our internet was down. Contacted BitCo and they came and replaced our switch free of charge. Quick and efficient. Amazing.

With Vodacom everything feels like a battle. But it’s fibre! So it’s a tough one.

Is Vodacom just your ISP?

Whos line is it though? Openserve lines seem to be having some issues from what I have heard talking to people. Especially in complexes for some reason

No, it’s Vodacom’s infrastructure. So it’s their line and they are my ISP. They don’t allow other ISPs on their lines.

Ahhh I only see now VUmatel is Vodacom, like Openserve is Telkom. Was not aware that Vodacom also had their own infrastructure.

It is pretty ridiculous that they do not allow other ISP on their lines. Does not make sense to me. Are you sure about this?

This is the same problem we have, we are stuck with Smart Village and I refuse to support them
