Official Movie Trailer Thread

Does anyone still go to the “movies” or visit movie houses or theaters?

Personally, nope. I haven’t gone regularly for ages (even before lockdowns). I’d make the very occasional trip for something special like the Star Wars movies, and maybe once or twice on a date night with the Missus if there was really something she wanted to see in the cinema. But it was very seldom then, and even less likely to happen now and in the future. I do know a couple of people who were regular cinema goers though.

Any scholars here who have read the poem?

With knights, talking foxes, spirits, magic, and a headless evil alternate green Groot, you’d think it would be right up there on every fantasy readers list, wouldn’t you? But no, never read the poem. Wading through some of Shakespeare’s English was tough enough without having to go near…

Great wonder of the knight
Folk had in hall, I ween,
Full fierce he was to sight,
And over all bright green.

(And that’s the simplified modernised translated version! The original passage was…)

for wonder of his hwe men hade
set in his semblaunt sene
he ferde as freke were fade
and oueral enker grene

And that’s just 4 of the over 2500 lines. No thanks!

Have you?

Did it as a set work in English lit. at varsity.

This was the version we used:

Tolkien’s translation is a bit more readable.

I can’t remember how it ends, will have to read through it again, but the basic tale of it could make for an interesting movie.

Unless they built in a mechanic with regenrating health, perhaps it’s a perk?
