Official NASA feed here. Lots of background inserts and info as well, before launch:
Successful lift off. Atlas V stage separation successful. Lucy is on her way.
lol I managed to catch the stream 3 minutes before the launch
Iâm half expecting her to say âTo all the aliens thinking about making that dangerous trek across empty space. Do not come. Do not comeâ
NASA Image of the Day
Observing a Dark Nebula
This stunning image captures a small region on the edge of the inky Coalsack Nebula, or Caldwell 99. Caldwell 99 is a dark nebula - a dense cloud of interstellar dust that completely blocks out visible wavelengths of light from objects behind it. The object at the center of the image is a (much smaller) protoplanetary nebula. The protoplanetary nebula phase is a late stage in the life of a star in which it has ejected a shell of hydrogen gas and is quickly heating up. This stage only lasts for a few thousand years before the protoplanetary nebulaâs central star reaches roughly 30,000 Kelvin. At this point, the central star is producing enough energy to make its surrounding shell of gas glow, becoming whatâs known as a planetary nebula.
âExcuse me while I touch the (sun)â.
They should have named the probe Icarus for a laugh
You have no idea how happy the audio makes me.
60s sci-fi was right!
You slow!
The history of this video is so fascinating. Werner Von Braun was a Nazi scientist that was the lead designer of the V2 rockets the Naziâs used in WW2. After he defected to the West, the American army didnât believe in his technology as a viable weapon or solution, and space flight was just a dream. So he went to Walt Disney and convinced him about his dreams of space flight. This video and a few others were made where he detailed plans for space flight. These videos were shown to the general public without the permission of the US Army, but the interest from the general public forced the governmentâs decision to fund a fully fledged space program, called Apollo.
Thanks for sharing!!!
Oh wow, sorry! I blame my news feed for sending me old news
