The Insane Engineering of James Webb Telescope
And why it’s so important for the search for future homes for our species and to further our understanding of the galaxy’s history…
How NASA’s Webb Telescope Will Transform Our Place in the Universe
Even XKCD is getting in on the JWST hype:
NASA Spaceflight covering the Falcon 9 launch of 49 Starlink satellites:
And a couple of other camera angles from the Spaceflight Now feed:
The Potentially Hazardous Asteroid (7482) 1994 PC1 will have a close, but safe, encounter with us, coming at about 2 millions of km from the Earth. The Virtual Telescope Project will show it to you live, online: join us from the comfort of your home!
Our live feed, free live feed is scheduled for 18 Jan. 2022, starting at 20:00 UTC
That’s 22:00 SAST
Also, rude Discourse is behaving like an unemployed net nanny again!
A huge asteroid flies will fly safely by Earth today. Here’s how to watch it live.
Is that even English, or is it just me that struggled to read that?
Space.com sub-editor clearly not paying too much attention to the text. The YouTube description (“Our live feed, free live feed…”) I can excuse because the bloke who does these streams, Gian Masi, is Italian. His English - written and spoken - is infinitely better than my Italian, so his grammatical faux pas are okay with me.
I seen that trailer, as much as I dislike Leo (but love Meryl), the whole thing just looks very satire.
It is exactly that - a very satirical take on the planet’s current situation. It uses the approaching planet killer as an analogy for the ignorance and “it’s a hoax” narrative of catastrophic climate change. It’s billed as a comedy, but it’s not ha ha funny. It’s funny in a scary way. Worth a watch if you’re not able to sleep, but definitely not family friendly!
I’ll add it to my to-watch backlog.
It one of those movies you watch ones and that Is enough. but it does give a good comment on our current society and that is the scary thing
One of the most frustrating movirs for me to watch! I just wanted to shake people and tell them to “WAKE UP!”. Which neatly sums up my reaction to half of the world right now. Fitting.
It has arrived!

Possibly one of the best looking launches. Amazing camera views from both SpaceX and NSF. Both is worth a watch
Future wars are going to be fought with energy blasts and EMP weapons.
