Today,53 years ago 20 July 1969, Neil Armstrong touched the stage floor in a Nevada TV studio to fake the moon landing

But seriously, here is a nice article about the man:

TODAY IS THE DAY!

Today marks the day where man officially starts missions to go back to the Moon, with the launch of the first Artemis mission.

For those that need a bit more of a refresher of what Artemis is, here is an overview video of the Artemis program:

And here is the official NASA live stream of the launch.

And in other news, the scientists and engineers behind this program all have thousands of hours in Kerbal Space Program, so the project is in good hands!

The rocket looks like it’s 1000% from KSP yes!! I just hope they have the Real World mods installed, and were able to build a real-world MechJeb for assistance…

“If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, and try again.”

Second launch attempt has about 2:35 left on the mission clock today. Launch is currently hold as it looks like another fuel leak has been identified at about the 50% fuelling level. Efforts now to identify the issue while the rocket is on the pad with fuel in it, and to take the opportunity to “wet dress rehearse” once again.

Doubtful that the Launch Hold will be lifted and today’s attempt will be officially scrubbed soon. Just in case you want to keep an eye on things:

And just minutes after posting, the Launch Director has called a scrub for today’s launch attempt. The date and time of the next attempt will be confirmed soon.
