I like stories and ideas like this, thanks.

I dont have range anxiety, I have wallet anxiety…

Drove past a car dealer this morning, I think they only do second hand. There was a Land Cruiser parked up - I love those cars. Hard as nails. I’d never buy one, though, as I don’t have enough use for it.

This one had R17000 per month written on the windscreen :face_exhaling:

I drove on.

My wife wondered out loud if that’s the vehicle price, or the fuel price.

Wallet anxiety indeed.

In our small complex (46 houses) the average car these days is either a new Prado, Defender 130 or Ranger Raptor. And then people have second cars of all sorts (Volvo XC40, BMW X3 and C-class are common), and about 15 or so houses have Porsches as weekend cars. One guy has 3x Porsches, an Aston Martin, a Ferrari, and some sort of convertible Mercedes as hobby cars.

I have a 4x2 Ranger. And I don’t drive it all that often. We work from home and primarily do online grocery shopping. When school starts again next week we’ll do our daily 3.4km commute to and from school twice per day. The fuel bill of this one car is already too high for my tastes.

I like that he explored more realistic car culture in SA.

He could easily have gone to a fancy boutique dealer/club and driven a supercar like everyone else. Or he could have driven a priceless race homologation vehicle.

Instead he went to a small garage and drove a strange Honda xD
