The sad bit is that Onion wrote that article years ago. They republish it almost verbatim every time there’s a mass shooting in the USA, just updating the unique details.

Satire that cuts really deep.

Xbox is planning to offer at least 5 new exclusives across the next year | Windows Central

In a statement to press, Microsoft described its intent to “meet or exceed” the number of games it launched in its FY2022, which included Age of Empires IV, Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Halo Infinite, and Forza Horizon 5.

“Last fiscal we launched 5 new games across console, PC, and cloud. We are on track to meet or exceed that amount in the next fiscal.”

  • Starfield
  • Redfall
  • Forza Motorsport

Those are 3 that I think will make appearances this fiscal year. Others?

You can grow it, eat it, drink it. But don’t dare smoke it!
Ironically, getting arrested for smoking weed in Thailand will land you in the one place that it is probably smoked the most - Thai jails.

o7 IE. You were much maligned and misunderstood, but most of us have you to thank for being the first to show us the wide world in our computers. RIP.

Still sad, but pleased to hear from Dave and Martin that Andy’s passing was natural and without prolonged suffering. RIP Andy Fletcher.

We wanted to take a moment and acknowledge the outpouring of love for Andy that we’ve seen from all of you over the last few weeks. It’s incredible to see all of your photos, to read your words, and to see how much Andy meant to all of you. As you can imagine, it’s been a strange, sad, disorienting few weeks for us here, to say the least. But we’ve seen and felt all of your love and support, and we know that Andy’s family has too.

A couple weeks ago we received the result from the medical examiners, which Andy’s family asked us to share with you now. Andy suffered an aortic dissection while at home on May 26. So, even though it was far, far too soon, he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering.

We had a celebration of Andy’s life in London last week, which was a beautiful ceremony and gathering with a few tears, but filled with the great memories of who Andy was, stories of all of our times together, and some good laughs. Andy was celebrated in a room full of many of his friends and family, our immediate DM family, and so many people who have touched Andy’s and our lives throughout the years. All being together was a very special way to remember Andy and see him off.

So thank you for all of the love you’ve shown Andy and his family and friends over the last few weeks. It honestly means the world to all of us. Andy, you’ll be missed, but certainly not forgotten.

Love, Martin & Dave

They can make as many rules as they want, but its not going to stop that family I saw in BT games from buying GTA 4 for their 7 year old son, ignorant parents will ignore those rules flat out. Felt so sorry for the guy at the counter who tried to as nicely as possible tell the parents “This game is for 18 year olds, and should not be played by children”

How many sensible parents are going to prevent their 7-year old child from playing Peppa Pig and Pals unsupervised? And even if they will, how is the F&PB going to police this?

Some parents take things like this seriously and don’t allow their children access to inappropriate media and control the online content available to their children. (See the many examples of this from amongst the MEW collective.) Other parents either aren’t as concerned, don’t have the knowledge or means, or simply aren’t present enough to be able to do the same. (See Tech’s example of the BT Games salesperson, see the tragedy of the Enyobeni Tavern).

Sometimes the silly overreach boggles my mind. And as much as I know the F&PB are just doing what they’re being guided to by people like the Minister of Arts and Culture, sometimes I can’t help but think that there’s got to be more pressing things that the government should be extending more resources to and focussing on at the moment.

Exactly what I said to my wife. Surely there are .ore pressing matters that demand more resources and attention that such a trivial matter that should otherwise be policed within households. How do they plan on enforcing that anyhow, it’s just absurd.

Why don’t they just ban children from watching a story or movie unattended while they’re at it or using a tablet. The likelihood for children to be exposed to something inappropriate is much greater through those mediums than through games. As usual, they’re not thinking things through and arbitrary ban something they don’t understand.

The thing is that the government has idiots deployed in all the various departments. So you’ve got multiple sources of idiots thinking up crap to implement and a lot of them already have their own budgets to work with.
