Skyrim - Mods

So for some unknown reason I crave playing Skyrim which is weird because I don’t replay games, and Skyrim was well ok, I enjoyed it but not enough to warrant this strange urge.

Anyway downloading right now so my question is any suggestions on Mods, I have a gtx 960 2G so that compared to my 560ti when I had the game years back now should be way better when it comes to HD textures etc…

Maybe I will make orthog destroyer of worlds and wipe out every living thing I find, murder all NPC’s and empty Villages mmmmm

I have a few. Mostly just small things.

Better world map.
Sounds of skyrim.
Towns and villages enhanced.
SkyUI
LOTR Weapons

cracks knuckles

OK, firstly make sure you get nexus mods manager, and get all the mods from nexus mods, it makes modding 100x easier and more convenient, then here are some of my 173 mods that I would recommend:

  • The Eloquent Reader - Makes gaining speech skill easier, by being able to gain some xp by reading books.
  • Riverwood Smelter (and anvil) - Simple mod that adds an anvil and smelter at the Riverwood blacksmith
  • Lumberjacked - Increases two handed xp by chopping wood and using the sawmill.
  • Enhanced Lights and FX - makes the lighting in my opinion a lot better, actually gives torches and illuminating spells some use.
  • Lanterns of skyrim - balances out the enhanced lights mod by adding some lanterns across the skyrim world, roads and town etc.
  • Unreadbooksglow - Probably my most favorite mod, any books you have not read, glow… and as a person who examines everything, this helps not doing the same thing twice.
  • Diablo Town Portal - Just a fun mod that adds a spell to make a diablo-style portal that when used teleports you to whiterun, I use it when I am deep in a dungeon and my inventory is full, that way I can quickly go sell and store everything, then just go back into the portal, and I am back in the dungeon.
  • I know the way - stops innkeepers from always showing you to your room.
  • Ore glow - adds a glow to ore so you can see it more easily.
  • Reduce distance npc greetings - does what it says, won’t make npcs greet you from a mile away.
  • Run for your lives - Makes all the npcs run into houses and buildings when the city is attacked by dragons, and vampires.

Ok I think I will leave it there for now, some of the names might not be the exact game mod, but that is how they are appearing in my plugin menu in the nexus mod manager. You should be able to find them if you search for them on nexus mods website.

Note: A lot of mods you you try to get will require SkyUI and Skyrim SKSE, also some may require the unofficial skyrim patches to work, but usually the mods tell you what mods are needed to work.

So I have been modding all day and yesterday, who wants to actually play when you can OCD about mods.

this has lead me to a impass, I have the original base Game no DLC.

No i’m starting to think about buying the Special edition which I see has all DLC and is shinier any thoughts on the Special edition ?

ughh, not really worth it, you can mod normal skyrim to look better anyway, just get the dlc’s on their own. DLC is not to bad, especially the Dawngaurd one, and I personally like the one where you can build your own house, dlc also open quite a few more mod options, like more house locations.

I have about 15 mods ruining at the moment as well as ENB so ya I have problems.

it is expensive at the moment yes, buying the 3 DLC works out nearly the same, everything is R495
