Tech Support Hotline

Ah sorry man, that’s a pain. Definitely does not look good for the Mushkin drives.

that worries me since i got a mushkin nvme from wootware. but man i can almost guarantee you that wootware will sort you out…

i was again (despite my frustration) really impressed with their after sales support after my motherboard started doing weird things. it basically wouldnt spin up. i ruled out case, psu, gfx on my end. that meant either board or cpu. since i had bought both from them i shipped both to them for testing. they found no issue with motherboard and cpu had bent pins, so we came to conclusion the cpu was issue. sadly coz it was physical damage on cpu they couldnt replace under warranty…which i do actually understand. they DID unbend the pins and even got the cpu working again but i bought a ryzen 5600x anyway. got it back…same thing, this time with new processor.

WEIRDLY, my motherboard randomly sprang back to life like 24 hours later, on its own. so when its plugged in and turned off for more than a few hours, it refuses to turn back on, spin up in ANY way. zero power delivery/lights showing. but if you leave it for 24 hours it randomly switches on by itself and then works perfectly (until loadshedding and then you have about 24 hours of waiting).

to me that meant board had some kind of issue. wootware agreed, and because it was 2nd time sending it up they paid for shipping to them.

again they could find no fault on their end via testing, so basically they think its environmental factor/moisture or something (possibly they think its PEBKAC, but i hope that the testing i had done my side before sending it back 2nd time, and the fact i have 3 pc’s all within 5m of each other with none of the others displaying this issue means its not really an environment factor), but because they’re awesome they gave me full credit for the board…this is after a year of owning it already.
And through the whole long ordeal they were always keeping me up to date via communication etc.

I’m def a happy Wootware customer

Same here. Their support is outstanding.

I’m sure they will, but I would ask them to replace it with a Sabrent rather…

I asked them if I can replace it with something else even if I pay in but they didn’t answer me. The couriers will come pick up the drive tomorrow. Once it has been tested I will ask them again.

I found an unopened box of 1Tb NVME SSD. Thank you bad memory, for thinking of me in the future, when I might need a lovely surprise. :star_struck:

Does anyone here use ProtonVPN (I believe @murfle does)?

I just use it on occasion but when doing so it doesn’t seem to “open up” the Netflix availability for that region, I still only see what is available in SA. I have been trying to watch The Alpinist and I can’t seem to access it from anywhere, Browser or Android.

Am I doing something wrong?

I haven’t tried it personally, just their emails. I do have more trust for the company than most out there though.

The screenshot you posted lists the Netflix access in the Upgrade to Plus benefits, so the free version wouldn’t have that, unfortunately.

Oh, then I misread that then, my apologies. Just goes to show the importance of concise and succinct message copy.

Seems to be some ambiguity, at least from my side, and a difference between “Access blocked content” and “Streaming service support”.

Anyway… ignore my previous comments and or concerns.

Wootware’s support is just outstanding. I’ll keep buying from them just because of that.

Wootware found my drive to be faulty. Because I’ve had two failures I asked them if it’s okay if I buy a different make and they are okay with it. So I pay in extra and will be getting a Samsung drive now.

Yea after the newegg open-box motherboard fiasco (hope some of you more tech inclind people follow the tech news :P) that occurred recently to GamersNexus, I felt like sending wootware another email just saying how much i appreciate their customer/rma support and how nice it is they dont try blame the customer for stuff… but that might be a bit too weird so i havent sent anything yet :stuck_out_tongue:

Excellent news! I also have two of those drives, also bought from Wootware, so this brings me great peace of mind.

What is the exact model of these drives?

Mushkin MKNSSDHL1TB-D8 Helix-L 1TB M.2 (2280) PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

However one of them was replaced just over a year ago and it’s still at 100% health, running perfectly. I find that the replacement drive is also running cooler than what the two originals did. So I probably just got a bad batch.

I ordered and received a new hard drive, since a previous one passes away. Luckily I saw it coming, and no important data was lost.

However, this is how Takealot ships hard drives:

Litterally no padding whatsoever. Not very impressed right now.

EDIT: I should note that, after well known Takealot shenanigans among the MEW crew, I only used Takealot since I got credit card rewards (ebucks style) that I used to offset the unplanned cost of a new hard drive. Never again. I’ll eat the cost next time.

That’s shocking!

Wootware sent me my new SSD and it was rolled in so much bubble wrap that I can probably jump on it and it’ll be fine.

Yeah, when I got my SSD from wootware it was wrapped in bubble wrap.
