Morning peoples!

Nice! I’m too scared to change jobs so I’ll probably be at mine until I retire.

That’s shocking! I hope you get paid soon.

It’s the worst. Good luck Greg.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully your head is above water though?

I know the guys who took over at the last place I volunteered haven’t paid their staff in 2 months. I’m not sure how they are even eating.

Ja im lucky, that we are(probably was now) a dual income house, and have no other dependents so i can manage to keep above water thanks to the hubby etc. But its the other people in the company i feel truly sorry for. They are not as lucky as i am. they also have kids that need to be fed and school fees etc.

It seems my exercise started early today, I just moved two mini fridges, cleaned floors and one they are dry put the new fridge in. Our mini fridge died thanks to loadshedding over the weekend, so we just got a replacement - he wants to leave it for the new tenant

Is your boss actually making any money. She sounds clueless.

We should find out on, Thursday, whats happening with our project thats been going on since last year. New people keep on entering the picture and changing and delaying things.

Are you on Eskom direct and not city power? I hear they’ve been rerouting blown substations to other substations thus overloading those too.

Lol, thats nice. My boss would probably take it.

Oh, and Good morning everyone.

We’re on Eskom Direct, and fortunately between my wife’s badgering on the phone and my online efforts, we managed to get technicians here to literally flick a breaker back up in the mini-substation down the road. Chap suggested that possibly we had a momentary overload as the streetlight that’s on our line came on just as we turned on the oven and the kettle, or something like that. It was only our place that had tripped, but we’re back on now. Hopefully for long enough to recharge batteries and stuff before the inevitable load shedding again tonight.

Heard similar stories too. Quite a few complaining from Ekurhuleni - seems a lot of their infrastructure and people’s equipment has not been “tempered” to the ons and offs of load shedding, so lots of blown and damaged stuff there at the moment - that’s what you get for your municipality not implementing load shedding for months, I guess.

So, fun fact. When I worked at a small company that was dependant on a struggling parastatal defense organization for the monthly cashflow, we were often paid late. I remember finding out back then that labour laws allow your employer to pay you up to 7 days into the next period - in other words up to the 7th of the next month. Great.

It might have changed in the 5 years or so since I was there, but its doubtful. If I were you, I’d chat to the rest of the office and visit the CCMA.

So… Will it be Russia or China that takes the claim/blame?

But China might want to take some heat off Wuhan.
