Do you think that when people say things like, “we’ve got cars for Africa”, that people in their respective countries say the same for their continent?
I.e. “we’ve got cars for Australia”

Nope, “for Africa” is the expression.
meaning “a lot of something”
Presumably derives from some idea of Western excess. When there’s too much of something, you can give it away, like a charitable donation, hence “X for Africa.”
