And another red flag. Kvyat this time

Clearly that means he’s going to start from the pitlane and finish in the points. Seems to be a Toro Rosso tactic.

It’s safer from the start line chaos haha

Exactly right!

With FP1 sent down the drain early on, FP2 became doubly important for all the drivers. Lots of errors, lots of misjudged corners, at least two into the walls, lots of lock ups later this is how it finished:

Neat summary package here too:

I see the Mercedes sandbagging and blowing smoke up Ferraris ass mind games continue

I honestly do not see the point of it anymore

Mercedes : Oh gosh, we’re going to have to work extra hard to beat Ferrari this race
Ferrari : Hey boys, we have Mercedes on the ropes. Seb, can you win this one.
Seb : Sure thing
LeClerc : But I’m faster than Seb
Seb & Team : Shut up Charles

And ironically I think Leclerc is the one who could bring the most points for the team, and this is still coming from a Vettel fan.

He is missing his spark. I actually hope he just retires at the end of the season

FP 3 Results. Ferrari (and especially Leclerc - he looks incredibly comfortable on the Baku streets) making the most of those updates. Merc still sandbagging, but 1.5s down is a truckload of sandbags…

I have a feeling LeClerc will have another Pole. Either that or Hamilton will snuck it from him on the last lap in Q3.

The great pretenders lol. I think they don’t like being tagged as the dominant force, that has zero competition, they want to seem like the underdogs.

Oh no! I take that back :frowning:

Dio dannazione, Ferrari! Merda!

Baku bites back in a very extended Qualifying with Turn 8 claiming first Kubica and then Leclerc. Red flags on both occasions added almost an hour to the Quali session, cooling the track significantly and forcing some serious tyre heating strategies. True to form, the Mercs kept their best for the final run crossing the line with 5 seconds to spare to complete their final laps.

Race on!

Jirre, Kubica, this track is not made for you, I suspect his hand is hampering him more than they want to admit.

Charles, that heartbroken voice, he will be kicking himself all night. But maybe its a good place to start from?

At least Bottas got pole, pity that doesnt translate into anything tomorrow

And well done Lando

Possible penalty to carry forward to Spain next time out?

ETA - The decision is exclusion from qualifying for Gasly, which changes essentially nothing as he was already ordered to start from the pit lane. Will have to formally request being permitted to start though.

Kubica to join Gasly in the Pit Lane start:

No confirmation of whether Ferrari are making any setup changes to Leclerc’s car. If they are simply repairing/replacing like-for-like, he should start 9th as Giovinazzi has a 10 place grid penalty after Alfa installed his third Control Electronics unit.

Wow, there is a guy here by the shops that’s 100% ready for today’s race. Full Ferrari gear, cap, shirt, shorts? And shoes. All red everything.

Red is a nice color to cry in
