LOL.
This is completely wrong. So far we can see that Ricciardo will be fabulous!
Nope, they don’t have that for the testing it looks like.
Ok so I can screen share but that is it for now, apparently, the app still needs to be updated.
But it also felt like half the app was missing, it might be that we cant get that extra info during the testing so that other teams cant do the same.
Other than Haas, I like most liveries. The Alpine in the sun does look really nice.
Merc needs to change their numbers. I cannot see them at all. A thin red outline is nearly invisible…
I don’t have one of them there new fangled fancy smart televisionals like y’all youngsters. Anyone know of a way to get it to screencast from an iPad or my laptop to the TV via the Xbox? Laptop to TV via HDMI cable works obviously, but it would be cool to be able to do it without having all the wires all over the place.
Not that I can actually get the app to work this morning though… spinning wheel of frustration is all I’m getting right now. Just me?
Uninstalled, reinstalled, and all good.
I do not have an xbox to help you with, but I can recommend in order of cheapest to expensivest, to get your dumb television somewhat smarter:
- Chromecast (2015) - I used to use this one. Perfect for just giving your TV a casting channel that you can then control with your phone.
- Chromecast (2018)
- Xiaomi Mi Box - I use this one currently. It has a chromecast built in, but it’s our daily driver for Netflix, Emby on the LAN, Youtube, Amazon, and Spotify in the living room. Silly F1 has no app for Android TV, so chromecast is required, but that worked well from Desktop Chrome, sharing a tab.
- If you’ve got a 4K TV, the Xiaomi might be a bit light in the pants, so then this Chromecast is the right thing.
This is the way I run, I have a dumb TV with a device that I can unplug, chuck away, and upgrade at my discretion.
Sweet thanks, will have a look a bit later.
Times and lap counts at the end of testing Day 2:
- Close at the top on day two of Bahrain F1 testing with Bottas’s Mercedes, Gasly’s AlphaTauri and Stroll’s Aston Martin separated by two tenths on soft tyres
- Brief red flag as engine cover was ripped from Perez’s RB16B after pulling out to pass Latifi’s Williams, with no contact occurring between them
- Ricciardo tops the morning timesheets for McLaren, just ahead of Alonso (Alpine) and Perez
- Vettel suffers a gearbox issue on his Aston Martin and only manages a handful of laps in the morning
- Hamilton brings out red flag in the morning, spinning off at Turn 13 and getting stuck in gravel
It is a sad day
RIP Murray
He will be missed
One thing’s for sure, the sound of his voice will live on in many people’s memories.
After @Avatar’s suggestions (and a very generous offer), my Chromecast hunt with Paul reminded him of something slightly better that was already here, just never setup: an old Mecer Xtreme PC-on-a-Stick.
Some updates, a cheap mini combo keyboard/touchpad I’ve had for a while, and a little frustration getting an audio driver to push sound to the TV later, and I have a Super Smart TV
Aston needs to fix these issues - they are starting to worry me.
Maccas are looking good
Dunno how much the teams are sandbagging this year
The Vettel curse?
Just kidding…
After testing it’s still all wide open and in no way will we be able to say where all the team will be, but it’s fun to speculate.
Looking at last year’s testing, it was clear as day that Merc was going to dominate, and they did, sandbags and all. This year they’ve shown some vulnerability with instability and reliability potentially an issue.
Red Bull carried over the momentum from last year, and this has been the first testing where they’ve looked like a decent contender. I guess this will translate into closer racing with Merc at the front.
The next few spots are impossible to judge, but I think Ferrari, McLaren and Alpine will 'nbe fighting for those positions. All 3 teams had good testing results and showed some pace.
Alpha Tauri impressed with the amount of laps and the speed they had, so I’ll put them next alongside the Aston Martin’s. AM just had way too many issues and never really looked like a decent car yet.
Williams looks to be in the up yet again with some really decent showing on track, and sporting a car that’s not as draggy or difficult to drive as previous years. I would venture a guess and say they’ll battle Alfa Romeo for the last points positions.
Haas is at the bottom. Two rookie drivers in an under developed car does not sound like a confident start, and they never seemed like they had any pace.
So my final classifications (for posterity looking back after the season) is as follows:
- Mercedes
- Red Bull
- McLaren
- Ferrari
- Alpine
- Aston Martin
- Alpha Tauri
- Alfa Romeo
- Williams
- Haas
Times and Lap Counts from the final day of Testing:
- Tsunoda and Verstappen swapping fastest laps multiple times in the last hour. The youngster impressed in his F1 testing debut.
- Raikkonen (166) and Russell (158) absolutely bossing the lap counts today.
- Verstappen and Red Bull finish pre-season testing on top, the Dutchman setting a 1m28.960s on the final day
- Tsunoda (AlphaTauri) takes second with Sainz (Ferrari) completing the top three
- Perez fastest for Red Bull in the morning session with a 1m30.187s ahead of Leclerc (Ferrari) and Norris (McLaren)
- The motorsport world mourns the loss of legendary commentator Murray Walker
- F1 action will resume in two weeks for the Bahrain Grand Prix (28 March)
Joining @DieGrootHammer in making a pre-season prediction, and going out on a bolder limb here to mix things up a bit compared to his:
- Red Bull

- Ferrari
- AlphaTauri
- Alpine
- Aston Martin
