The Formula 1 Thread 🏎

Despite that caveat, Wolff made no bones about how impressed he’d been with Russell, who’s been signed to a multi-year deal with Mercedes – and who Wolff was backing to form a strong bond with seven-time champion Hamilton at the team.

“Looking forward to 2022, we are very happy to confirm that George will have the opportunity to take the next step in his career and join Mercedes,” said Wolff. “He has been a winner in every racing category – and the past three seasons with Williams have given us a taste of what the future could hold for him in F1.

Seeing that it’s a multi-year deal and Russell is a fellow Brit of Hamilton, what are the chances of Hamilton wanting to retire in the next few years and having Russell take his place?

So what’s left unknown at the moment? (Besides any shock or surprise changes or last minute retirements later in the year.) Only one I can think of is whether Giovanazzi keeps his Alfa Romeo seat, or if we have an Italian-free grid next year?

With him being the poster boy for this weekend’s #ItalianGP I doubt anything will be announced about his seat - unless it’s to confirm that he’ll stay in it next year.

Think that is all yes. But something tells me Giovanazzi will keep his seat. He seems to have done well so far under the circumstances.

Well done Maccas. Glad for Ricciardo first and foremost though. He deserves this.
Happy that Ferrari at least got decent points. That engine upgrade can ma come now.

LOL they asked Bottas about the incident between Hamilton and Verstappen… He’s like, it’s unfortunate XD man don’t care anymore lol

Yea I won’t lie, I was hoping lando would give Macca their first win, but I’m not mad, Daniel deserves that win, he drove like a champ. I was in tears when they crossed the line. I’m still emotional, shoey and all.

Chirp of the day by far:

Don’t let Hamilton vs Verstappen distract you from the fact that Nikita Mazepin is now 21st in a 20 driver championship.
