There was a scary moment there where the tyre exploded just as the marshall started extinguishing. Luckily he was standing far enough away that he was not injured, but it certainly raises the question of the marshall’s PPE.

It looked like the fire started with the breaks, but got out of control fairly quickly. Probably compromised the rear suspension a bit… It’s going to be a long day for the Williams mechanics.

Worth it or not?

I’ve binged up to episode 6 or so. Like we expected, it’s a bit more bland this time around, with a lot less new info coming forth in DtS. That said, it’s our favourite sport in overly dramatic soap styles - absolutely worth it!

Day 2 sees the unusual sight of a Haas at the top of the time sheets, K-Mag marking his F1 return with a decent day of Testing, albeit in the extra time after the end of the day. Up until then, it was an All Sainz day:

Day 3 Morning Session times and lap counts:

  • No testing at all for Danny Ric - he got the Covid :expressionless:
  • Perez comfortably fastest in the Red Bull with new sidepods.
  • Gasly (91), Zhou (82), Hamilton (78), and Latifi (73) racking up the laps this morning.

And the live blog feeds for the rest of the final day of testing:

Ranking the teams after 2022 F1 testing - YouTube

To start with our F1 journalists - Edd Straw, Mark Hughes and me Scott Mitchell - all drew up our own rankings. Some parts were identical, but some were COMPLETELY different.
So after much deliberation and trading of information, this is our best estimate. It is by no means a definitive prediction for the season opener, let alone the 2022 season as a whole.
But we’ve got some strong clues indicating who is in a strong position and who is on the back foot. And setting us ourselves up for failure is all part of the pre-season fun.

Round 1 - :bahrain: Bahrain Grand Prix

F1 is officially back this weekend! Has Mercedes been sandbagging through Testing? Is the Ferrari genuinely fast? Is Max ready to defend his title? And, with the Covid created driver changes, the big question: will K-Mag and Hulk be sucking balls in the press paddock?

One of the most important tidbits, between all of the season kickoff exitement:

New race director is not fucking around, the lines are where the lines are.
