Yep do that, then you can see all the kak we talk about F1 :stuck_out_tongue: (and weirdly food)

Food seems to be the default go to when thereā€™s not a race on :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

First part of that race was boring AF though. only the start gave something and thenā€¦ nothing. Until things dried up and more safety cars came out. good stuff though. At least Max wonā€™t just win the championship so early. But Le Clerc needs to watch out, heā€™s going to lose his second place in the championship to Perez, that being said, Iā€™m glad he hung back(unless he was just slow, although when Perez was told to move, Le Clerc couldnā€™t keep up ) and didnā€™t take chances and at least take the second place. 18 points is better than no points.

Say what now???

Nelson Mandela SA Grand Prix for Soweto? | GRAND PRIX 247

ā€œMost enticing new planā€ is not the phrase Iā€™d use.

Ah, so thats what the Kyalami bid lacked! They should have included Nelson Mandela in their name somewhere to make it more enticingā€¦

It would be a travesty for a quality track like Kyalami, with rich Grand Prix history to boot, to be snubbed for some street track. I hate politics!

Edit: Let me guess, the same guy who came up with the flag pole plan came up with this!

On the way back to the media centre I pop into the FIA, then F1. At the first I chat with Deputy President for Sport Robert Reid, who runs me through the plans the governing body has to grow motorsport globally and how it intends working with member clubs to achieve its objectives; at the second I sound out the chances of the chances of a South African Grand Prix in 2024, more particularly Kyalami.

As outlined here earlier this year, F1 aims to tick the ā€˜Africa continentā€™ box and, frankly, doesnā€™t care where, how, or with whom provided its parameters (for which read hosting fees) are satisfied ā€“ and if that means elsewhere on the continent, so be it.

I wrote back in April: ā€œAlternately, Morocco could stage the next African Grand Prix - donā€™t bet against it as an Africa box-ticking exercise.ā€ After all the shilly-shallying over the (non-)South African Grand Prix, F1ā€™s sights are firmly set on Morocco and will remain so unless someone very quickly tables a sustainable big-buck bid devoid of the arrogant sense of entitlement that ultimately killed off the chances of a 2023 race.

The least they could have done is put together a decent track map image. Youā€™d think a ā€œconglomerate of highly influential South African businessmenā€ who were prepared to put up hundreds of millions of Rands to finance an F1 GP could spring for a decent track map plan. Not taken a screen shot of Google Maps on their knock off Android phone and used the markup tool and a fat finger.

From a logistics point of view, Morocco makes a lot more sense than SA. Itā€™s literally a ferry trip away from Europe, and the FIA love its old French connections.

Their new purpose built Sidi Daoui Circuit looks pretty much done and ready to host, and the FIA and F1 did an inspection there too a few months ago.

Itā€™s even perfectly positioned between Casablanca and Marrakesh - imagine the PR possibilities of a ā€œCasablanca Grand Prixā€.

Still no official information from the FIA re the 2021 Cost Cap Certifications, but in the abscence of actual news, Sky F1 feel the need to continue to feed the frenzy of BS. Now itā€™s with a very different tone though, compared to their gleeful ā€œreportingā€ over the weekend. You could sense Croftsā€™ and Kravitsā€™ chubbies at the thought of Red Bull and Max losing the Championship.

Funny how they went from major to minor so quickly. And even before any official announcements. Talking about rushing to cover your arseā€¦

Of course now all the asinine #Blessed Team LH44 muppets will be crowing about a ā€œmassive coverupā€ and the FIA being bought. I mean, if Toto said it was true and now it suddenly isnā€™t, the only thing that could be happening is a cover up. Right?

Now Horner/Red Bull will have to sue Wolff/Mercedes and Binotto/Ferrari and Everyone/Else for defamation to clear their name in the court of public opinion.

Even then I have no doubt thereā€™ll still be plenty of ā€œthe FIA are corrupt and will do anything to stop Lewis getting his 8th titleā€, and ā€œitā€™s all a convenient cover upā€ conspiracy merchants around for years to come.
