Wild race, and screw the FIA for having yellows up but doing jack about the mirror just chilling there until it got driven over, followed by Safety Car after Sainz pits, FFS.
Shout outs to Zhou getting points and Driver of the day to probably end his season on a good note.

Yeah, absolutely wild decisions by the new race director!

Special mention to Stroll pulling a Stroll as usual.

To be fair, it’s been coming for the last two years.

See I interpret that to be his decision = how well he drives…and yea, he’s CLEARLY decided he doesn’t wanna drive for Red Bull in that case

KMag going to do whatever it takes to get his teammate that podium in their last race together …

(It’s from r/formuladank, so - probably - not real, but it would be good if it was.)

We’ve seen this headline before, though…

Yea I will not comment on the new race director. . . . Not so sure about his choices.

The penalties was deserved but he went severe and not sure that it really was worth what he chose

It’s RaweCeek yet again, and its the Constructors Trophy up for grabs between two that hasn’t had it for quite some time. Ferrari since 2008, and the most likely winner McLaren since 1998. Gah dem.
The first time in 13 years its not Merc or Red Bull.

Maccas probably deserve it more, but obviously I’ll be rooting for Ferrari, however, except in a case where they have their best weekend yet, I don’t see this happening.

Ferrari 1 - 2?

Zhou Guanyu’s final F1 helmet is pretty special. And a little sad.

Posted to his Instagram account with the message:

A special helmet with full of loved moments. It’s been a pleasure Valtteri Bottas, loved every highs & lows that we been through over the last 3 years, one last dance with Stake F1 Team, let’s enjoy it.

And, like @Dragonic said… it’s RAWE CEEK one last time in what has turned out to be one of the best seasons of F1 racing in a long time1!

2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix :united_arab_emirates:

Yas Marina Circuit | Abu Dhabi | UAE | Sunday, 08 December
2024 F1 Season: Round 24

Esteban Ocon has parted ways with Alpine, paving the way for Jack Doohan’s first complete F1 weekend. Sergio Perez might be approaching his final F1 Grand Prix. The Leclerc brothers are set to make history as the first siblings to drive in a full F1 session (FP1) as teammates. McLaren and Ferrari are contending for the 2024 World Constructors’ Championship title and the substantial financial rewards that accompany the P1 crown. It’s the final F1 race for a number of drivers, and the final race for their current teams for others. It’s going to be an interesting weekend.

Ferrari last won the Constructor’s Championship in 2008 - 16 years ago. That was the year Felipe Massa lost out on the Drivers title to Lewis Hamilton by just one point after the controversial Brazilian GP. Massa’s teammate that year was Kimi Räikkönen, the reigning World Champion. He finished 3rd in the season standings, which was enough to give the Scuderia, led by Stefano Domenicali in his first season as Team Principal.

Ferrari’s last victory in the Constructor’s Championship was in 2008, 16 years prior. That year Felipe Massa narrowly missed the Drivers’ title to Lewis Hamilton by a single point following the contentious Brazilian Grand Prix. Massa’s teammate, Kimi Räikkönen, who was the defending World Champion, secured 3rd place in the season standings. Their combined P2 and P3 points were enough to secure the Scuderia’s success under the leadership of Stefano Domenicali, in his then first season as Ferrari Team Principal.

For McLaren’s most recent championship, we need to go back another decade to 1998. That year, under Ron Dennis’s leadership, the motoring marvel that was the McLaren MP4/13 propelled Mika Häkkinen to his inaugural WDC title and his teammate, David Coulthard, to third place.

McLaren heads into the season’s final race with a 21-point lead. Given the similar performance of both teams in recent races, the Championship is essentially theirs to lose at this stage.

The Schedule

The Circuit

Jolyon Palmer, former Renault F1 driver:

The circuit has been improved as it used to be quite fiddly, but they’ve got rid of the wishy-washy chicanes that are now Turn 5 and Turn 9. As a result, it’s a much quicker circuit and better for racing. There are good overtaking opportunities under braking into Turn 6 and then at the exit toward Turn 9.

The triple right-hander near the end of the lap is the trickiest part. You’re blind braking into Turn 12, so it’s easy to make a mistake. It’s been widened, but Turn 13 is still tricky and it’s important to get the car placement right.

The final sector is the least enjoyable to drive in many ways, but it’s where you can win or lose a huge amount of time. As the last race of the season, it’s always a nice feel overall.

The Weather

The Tyres

Thanks to significant changes to the track layout introduced in 2021, the 5.281 kilometre track is much faster and flowing, with several overtaking opportunities. In general, the forces exerted on the tyres are in the medium to low range, because of the lack of high speed corners. The surface offers little grip and its level of abrasiveness is average for the season.

Temperatures will play an important role, with two of the three free practice sessions taking place in daylight, while FP2 and the race get underway at sunset with all of qualifying taking place at night. Therefore, track conditions can change quickly as temperatures drop and they will also evolve rapidly as the track rubbers in, especially on the first two days, helped by the fact there are three support categories on the card this weekend – F4 UAE, F1 ACADEMY and F2.

On a track where graining could have a significant impact and where, as previously mentioned, overtaking is possible, a two-stop strategy certainly seems preferable, as indeed was the case last year. Furthermore, the undercut is very effective and, in order for a one-stop to work, it requires a great deal of tyre management to limit performance drop off.

The Standings

Hey at least he gets to finish unlike Ocon…

That look Sainz is giving Lewis is priceless!
