The Game Awards 2023

The annual Game Awards for 2023 get presented on 7 December this year. The nominees in all 31 categories were announced earlier today, and public voting is now open on the Game Awards site.

Two of the year’s biggest sequels — survival-horror title Alan Wake 2 from Remedy Entertainment and role-playing game Baldur’s Gate 3 from Larian Studios — nabbed the most nods with eight each, including Game of the Year. The four other titles rounding out the nominations for Game of the Year are also entries in long-running franchises: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games, Resident Evil 4 from Capcom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder from Nintendo and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom from Nintendo.

Woohoo World of Goo 2!

Interesting that Brothers is getting a remaster/remake. With such a narratively dependent game you wonder if it will have the same impact. It’s not like the original was lacking visually either.

God of War: Ragnarok Valhalla DLC

Free DLC inspired by roguelike genre, out next week

Sony’s Santa Monica Studio showed a trailer for God of War: Ragnarok Valhalla, “an adventure that blends God of War Ragnarok’s combat with elements inspired by the roguelike genre,” according to Game Awards host Geoff Keighley. The free DLC content is coming Dec. 12, 2023.
