Anyone have an Amazon Prime subscription? Is it worth it for us in South Africa?
Not worth it for you in SA, most of the stuff is region locked to the US or UK and the’ve taken a strong anti-VPN stance

As in Prime Video? You get Twitch prime with it which gives you an assortment of in-game items for popular multiplayer games, and a few indie games every month.
Whats your poison? Looks too dark to be whiskey.
It’s whiskey. Not my usual fare: Dewars 15 year. I’m more of a single malt man, but this was a gift and it’s pretty good!
It looks like you need a huge hug!
To @PsychoFish’s point: In South Africa, Prime Video is about two-thirds the price of a Prime Video subscription in the US to compensate for the fact that you don’t get all the content they have in more mature markets.
We pay $3 per month for the first 6 months, and then $6 per month thereafter.
To add to @DarthMol’s take: The actual video content you get with Prime Video is actually pretty good, thanks to their slate of originals.
There is Good Omens, The Tick, The Grand Tour, The Boys, and American Gods. There is also the Amazon Original Pistorius series about our very own Oscar.
They have a bunch of B- and C-grade movies, with some top-shelf stuff mixed in-between. Most important is that Amazon is currently the only streaming service in South Africa with Serenity included in the subscription. Since I have to rewatch Serenity at least twice a year, this saves me the few seconds the irritating FBI warning on the Blu Ray would otherwise eat up
Maybe I should have gone with that instead of Stargate (which is a massive time commitment).
You should definitely watch both.
Nothing wrong with starting with Firefly and Serenity, though.
(Note that Amazon Prime only has the movie that ties up the series: Serenity. It doesn’t have the Firefly series )
But that is why you have to own both on bluray! (I wont lie I still need both on bluray - but my brother has it so I just steal his)
I should add on that I own both on normal disk, so bluray isnt a big issue for me, since I tend to watch it on my pc at home and on his big tv when I am there.
Morning
Morning everyone

Morning, folks. Slow start this morning. Stuck in traffic from Pretoria to Linden to try and be on Newzroom Afrika.
I’m surprised how quickly I got to the Beyers Naudé offramp given that it was bumper-to-bumper all the way. Sadly, that last stretch to Linden was just too congested to get there on-time. It took me like 5-10 minutes just to get off the highway and onto Beyers Naudé.
So I ended up pulling over and doing the interview over the phone.
I wonder how much it would cost to build a satellite studio things in or near my house. Skype is apparently not reliable enough for broadcast, so maybe if I can build a little studio with fibre uplink and satellite as a backup we can make it easier for folks from Pretoria to appear on South Africa’s live news shows
