“This is not the greatest topic in the world… this is just a tribute”

Well it is lunch time and I haven’t done a single bit or work.

I have however organised my Trello gaming board and up to episode 8 of a Witcher playthrough.

does anyone use an form of VPN and if so which one, paid or otherwise?

I have been using https://www.cactusvpn.com/ for 4 years now. Reliable, hosted in the Netherlands, which means logs are almost impossible to get hold of and costs me $5 a month.

I wish! I forgot my lunch at home so hungry but refusing to buy takeaways.

Plus the shop has been chaos and only now its quiet

And I resigned… The crazy was out of control again and I just decided to send the letter now.

So does anyone have any idea how I remove the work Gmail from my phone? Without me having to reset my phone?

Ah shit dude what happened? And I think if you have a Huawei you go to accounts under settings and remove it from there. I think or just PM me with your phone stuff and I’ll check for yous :mechanical_arm:

I actually found it now there under settings. There is an option to delete a work profile. So first thing on Monday once she has had her screaming session with me I will delete the profile in her presence.

Oh yes, she is the paranoid one.

Thank bud, will check 'em out, been hearing great things about NordVPN as well.

Company I have been working for since its founding 14 years ago merged with a multi company corporation. People lost jobs some got moved to other companies in the corp. We are fighting to preserve our dev culture that our team has evolved all these years into the current scrum/sprint based model. Our new corporate overlords have never even heard of that terminology :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Luckily the overlords want to use our team, almost as it is, as the corp wide tech division to dev software for all the companies in it.

It meant negotiating salary packages within the corp structure, something we have never had to do. These guys play hardball with employees. We are used to being valued people, now we are (currently valued) assets. We just dodged having to work a 6 day week.

It allowed me to “upgrade” my job title from the only tester in a 25 person dev team to “software test analyst”. No pay raise though, was hard enough to negotiate breaking even with what I used to be paid. Got nauseatingly familiar with the term “cost to company”. I hate that concept SO much, it is always used in every negotiation.

Still no pension or medical benefits. Those things seem like a paradise dream these days.

I know exactly how you feel. Been there with my previous employer and almost the exact same situation. If you need some help with anything or just need to talk let me know.

I am happy to be out of that environment now.

Our project manager left after coming face to face with the corporate culture. He took a pay cut to go work for another startup, saying that he loves that a lot more than what our company grew into.

I wish I could join him but I have family, kids to think of while he does not.

Thank you so much, I might just do that. Our entire team is shell shocked and not quite sure what to do.

I understand completely. I have a wife, a 7 year old and a 3 month old and made the same decision. Took a financial knock leaving the corporate safe job for something that is much better for myself emotionally and mentally.

I get what hes about I also enjoy the startup companies rather than corporate world everything takes so dam long.

Must say not looking forward to coming back to SA but will maybe enjoy the work life again. Was good to not be in front of a PC for most of the day.
