Morning, y’all. I see we’re starting the new year at a sprint. Good luck @wenzdayz and @Shrike.

If there’s anything I can do to help, just shout.

This is one of the parts of capitalism I really dislike. Your owners get a fat payday while you get to renegotiate your own contract just to maintain your current salary. Such bull.

(To be clear: the “fat payday” is also usually not as simple as all that. There are usually all kinds of performance metrics the company has to meet for the owners to get the bulk of the sale price out. But still.)

Mornings, so my day has started out weird. Went to go get a drs note for when I was in hospital cause my discharge form wasn’t good enough. The Dr made a typo on the booked of period. Was only supposed to be from 26/12 to 30/12 but it now says I have been booked off until the end of this month. The crazy is going to flip when she sees that.

Also I see she has already blocked me from my company email(like I even had access to client emails).

Monday cannot come quickly enough so that I can see how much fallout she is going to cause.

After having had to deal with an asshole of a customer during New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day and finally getting paid for my work, I decided to buy myself a game…

Hello everyone! Good to be back from my holiday and while it was a decent holiday at first the last few days were not fun at all.

Early in the morning while we were still asleep on New Years Day our holiday flatlet got broken into and the thieves took a bunch on stuff including mine and my wife’s cellphones and all the units keys and our car keys. They had planned to take my father-in-law’s BMW X5 but fortunately couldn’t figure out the electronic handbrake and so left the keys in his car. My car was untouched but my keys were gone. Most unnerving was the fact that our phones were on the bedside tables next to us so the thief/thieves were right there in the room with us when they took them. Nobody was harmed thank goodness, and they didn’t go into the kids’ room. But it was a really crappy way to wake up to the new year.

Long story short - after all the hassles of sorting things out we’re at least back home in Joburg again.

Where did you go to? And was there any form of security around the place? Stories like that creep me the hell out and makes me furious about the lawlessness in the country.

Thanks all.

@FarligOpptreden we were on the South Coast, placed called Pumula. The complex has an electric fence (puny one by our Joburg standards) and the wall is not that tall either. The house we were in (which belongs to my wife’s uncle and aunt) has security gates and bars on the windows. But they wedged open the one kitchen window and cut 3 of the bars with bolt cutters and bent the bars up to get in. I have no idea how none of us heard anything. We’d had a quiet New Year’s Eve so no one was sleeping off the booze.

Apparently 2 other houses in the neighbourhood were also hit that morning
