So… The guys who were doing the IT here before me have been charging weekly “verified backup” checks, but there have been no successful full backups since 2017. Also, they’re charging monthly licensing fees on a free version of a firewall… And when I asked for an invite to Microsoft volume licensing, they asked for my Microsoft account password.

so who here has bought a cake for a birthday party from say a small-ish bakery or from someone who bakes?
my friend wants me to bake her sons b-day cake and wants me to tell her how much i ask but im not sure what would be too expensive.

Nothing off the top of my head. Maybe poke around google (or facebook) for cake bakers in your area, I’m sure you’ll be able to get an idea.
Otherwise, just calculate your costs, and add a bit for your time. Then say, “Would Rxxx be reasonable?”

ask them to do a restore. Then once they prove they can’t ask for your money back

ja thats what i was doing… calculated all my ingredients to the smallest i can buy and it works out to just over R300 so then i would have to put in time etc.

No, you actually have a legal stand. You’ve paid for a service that they cannot deliver on

Sounds like a good start. If it’s for a friend, do the labour part cheap. Take pics and put them in a portfolio. It could lead to more business!

I know, I’m pretty furious. I’m still waiting to hear back from our management here to see what they have to say. They’re pretty lenient people (and well, it kinda shows with how they’ve been walked all over), so I have a feeling they’ll just let it slide.
@czc Ya, I mentioned it in passing, and just copied them on the email I just sent to the other company. I put in bold at the end “I expect a full explanation on all the above”… I imagine they’re crapping themselves right about now.

Sy gaan moet besef dis nie cheap nie - no matter how you look at it. Just materials are costly. So enige iets van R350 tot R500 is fair hang af hoeveel moeite jy doen met decorations
