“This is not the greatest topic in the world… this is just a tribute”

Hi everyone. So been a busy day doing all the last minute requests and things to be done before lock down. All my shopping is also done thankfully, and I’m ready for this thing.

I can imagine you are busy with all of this. It’s an unprecedented event.

That’s good that you are safe. I was wondering if you were deemed essential service, seeing that ICT and media are. If you do go out perhaps could you take some photos of how things are out there, all quiet and such. Or if you do an article on it I’ll check it there.

All ok here. House is set up and stocked up for a bit. Work is essential service so they open and I have my permission letter in case I need to go in. But I am working remotely and can do everything remotely, unless there’s a big problem that needs physical “turn it off and on again” expertise  But I don’t really want to go out there if I don’t have to. I’ll just do the groceries trip and that’s it.

Day 6772 of the Apocalypse:

Prepped some of the neighbours up for communications during the lockdown. I guess they’d call me essential services. People need to work from home, and keep in touch with loved ones. We’re very close to the lockdown starting, less than 4 hours to go.

There’s less blood coming through the guaze and bandages today, the wound must be getting better, but I cannot guarantee I’m not infected. I cleaned up the used bandages while bleach is still available, having some extra on hand can only be a good thing.

I’m half expecting day 1 to be relatively quiet. I figure there will be some army showing “we’re not joking around here” type force in some of the more populated areas, if what I’ve seen/heard people doing for the past 3 or 4 days, after the announcement of the lockdown was made.

This is all very new to most the people alive now, yet there is something strangely familiar about all of this. Could just be that ‘sense’ that’s always lay dormant in the back of my head.

Consolidated my posts into a new thread. New posts will go there whenever I feel like writing some fact based fiction. I’m going to call it ‘faction’ for short.

Feel like shitting on my ISP again…

That upload though.

What we had when we upgraded last year was:

Ping: 20ms
DL: 6Mb/s
UL:3Mb/s

This is now becoming a daily struggle this our pathetic excuse of an ISP!

Sounds pretty typical for South African ISPs… start out great, get clientbase, screw over said clients.

At least my experience so far…

I’m gonna experiment will something:

Gonna see if PUBG performs any better if I install it on my SSD instead.
Using my SSD now for my most played games, atm.

So today was extremely eventful. Got the RX 480 8gb from my bud and he traded me his Dell 24’ monitor for a TV that was gathering dust so yeah.

But besides that, Anneli has been very sad lately about me not staying with her during the lockdown. But I can’t leave ouma alone and luckily she understands that

Anyway hope everyone stocked up on smokes, booze and the other minor things like food and what not. Be safe and I’ll catch you all online :mechanical_arm:

As long as that’s all you catch!

PUBG runs way better on my SSD!, but it still feels like I’m covered in really sticky adhesive.
Been playing a lot of shooters lately, yet PUBG feels extremely clunky by comparison.

I REALLY want to celebrate the lockdown like the rest of my family: doing nothing for the day (2 kids and wife is a teacher) but… Since I am working from home and always have, I cannot ;-(

Will have to wait for the weekend, like it is any other Friday.

Are you able to order online for delivery?

This would be a breeze without kids. But having kids in this quarantine and lock down makes it very tough
