So quietly hopeful, the boss is going to Stellenbosch for a site handover today, tomorrow we setup the office again, Thursday sounds like we will be back at work. Are those shields mandatory? Because I wont have one - I cant see the boss enclosing my desk in it - I am reception

So I have these friends. Very nice people, very generous, kind, etc… Bat crap crazy, but good people.
Until they want something from you. Then they manipulate every little fact. For example, they asked for help to get one of the kids they sponsor set up to take maths classes online. I told them I just need to speak to the teacher to find out what the requirements are… While I was in the middle of saying what I need, I was interrupted. I told them flat out not to interrupt, and that they need to listen to me. Then I asked if we could phone the teacher then and there. I was told she was coming by the next day at 11am, would that work. I stood there for a few seconds without responding, knowing they again, weren’t listening to a word I said.
Later, they sent me a message confirming the teacher will come at 11am. I responded saying I’ll try and be ready, but if not, they can phone me to wake me up.
So, I was up and ready before 10am, but I had time to kill, so I was gaming. I get a call at 10:15 asking where we were going to meet to set up the computer. Again, I went silent for a few seconds, then asked where this was coming from. They started babbling nonsense, and I said again I only needed to talk to the teacher, we could do it outside. The phone was handed off to the other nutter, who immediately started yelling at me, saying I said they can phone me. I responded that it isn’t even close to 11 yet. It went off from there, when I snapped and said they’re trying to manipulate me and I’m sick of it. She freaked out yelling at the top of her lungs that I’m lying. I made her repeat herself. Ya, turns out the teacher was too busy to come out, so it sounds like nothing was ever confirmed with her, even though I was originally told she was coming out regardless…
So they ended up coming down with their phone. I called her. Confirmed with her the site only works on Chrome, and that the rest of the stuff the couple was going on about was just BS. When I handed the phone back, I told him, “This could have all been avoided if you just listened to what I was asking yesterday. This was all I needed.” and then offered an apology for flipping out calling his wife manipulative. She refused my apology.
I was fuming mad all weekend. Couldn’t enjoy gaming, nothing… There was a line in the movie Strange Days that went something like “And don’t you be using the time I’m talking to think up what you’re gonna say next” that kept going through my head.
Time passed, and we’re all good now. /vent

“Givers need to have boundaries because takers have none.”
You handled the situation well despite the drama. Manipulative people are very, very difficult to deal with especially if you have a compassionate nature.

Hahaha I know the feeling. Ive grown up with GSD’s so its my all time favourite dog breed. Just because they are amazing with kids, they are amazing pets, so much character and each dog is so different from all the others. I wouldnt be able to give up my three either. I am dreading the day we have to put Vikki down, she is almost 16, and her hind legs are going now. But we believe whilst she isnt in pain, and she plays with us and the other 2 we wont take her in.

Good morning everyone.
Morning people of the palace
Gaming PC is doing a weird thing, suspect it is a driver issue. It starts up fine, then about 3- 5mins of using the pc the screen goes white then black then the pc restarts. I have booted it in safe mode - the irony is it is stable but my usual password doesnt work . . . and for some reason my MS account password is also wonky - aka wont be accepted.
