Despite the 14 hour workdays we’re doing good. Wife is a bit paranoid as she joined an Eversdal WhatsApp group and it seems the crime is rampant around here. Most incidents within 3km of us. So she’s on constant guard and does a night watch round almost hourly.

Shame man I can imagine that isnt good, I assume you are renting - armed response and any other security there?
I feel bad for her! You can tell her tho that the armed response, neighbourhood watch and SAPS have a great working relationship in that area as well most of the northern subs.

We’re renting yes. At least we’re in a secure estate with some intimidating electric fencing. Problem is we’re on the boundary wall and the street behind us is VERY quiet with loads of trees and bushes for trespassers to hide in. At least the neighbours confirmed that there hasn’t been any incidents in the estate for at least 9 years, which is somewhat reassuring.
The house has an alarm system and beams outside - I just haven’t figured out the zones yet, as each time I arm it, the bedrooms are also armed and the alarm goes off. We do have a security door by our bedroom which the wife now locks. Our boy still sleeps with us in bed, so it’s all good. Only mother-in-law is left to her own devices, so she locks her bedroom door now.
Honestly, I don’t feel the least bit scared or threatened. Since my wife joined that group she’s been paranoid and on high alert.

I ordered the ring before lockdown, and it was supposed to be done the Friday lockdown started. So I had to wait for them to open again.
