THQ Nordic buys TimeSplitters IP from Crytek

THQ Nordic (formerly Nordic Games) has been on a major buying spree these past few years.

When THQ went bust in 2013 they acquired the Darksiders, Red Faction and MX VS ATV Franchises and eventually also snatched up the THQ Trademark for next to nothing back then.

I don’t get why they can’t just make ‘fresh’ IP.

Because people are more likely to buy into a game / movie / series if it’s part of an established franchise. At least in the hype and release phases, which the entertainment industry bargains and capitalizes on. If it turns out to be a pile of doodoo, they at least made some money from it befire the critics and community rip it to shreds.
