U2 go on a (Short) Virtual Tour

Irish rock band U2 are taking their act on a virtual tour through four decades of their live performances with the broadcast of four memorable concert films on their YouTube channel over the next four weeks.

Each “concert” will be preceded by a newly recorded pre-show performance by selected artists. The first concert, appropriately on St. Patrick’s Day, is the bands’ 2001 homecoming concert from Dublin’s Slane Castle. The concerts will all premier on the bands’ U2 channel at 7:30 PM in the original performance locations’ time zone, so the first and the last work well for South Africa, the middle two not so much.

U2 Go Home: Live from Slane Castle Dublin 2001

with support from Dermot Kennedy

U2: Live at Red Rocks 1983

with support from Fontaines DC

Popmart: Live from Mexico City 1997

iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE: Live in Paris 2015

Like them or not, there is no denying that U2 have delivered some incredible live performances, and their concerts are seen by many as iconic rock events. If nothing else, watch the Red Rocks and the Slane Castle concerts in full screen mode, with the volume turned up, purely for their epicness.

Missed one, but here’s the most recent concert - the huge 1997 Popmart performance from Mexico City:

(It looks like the earlier concert videos are only being kept on YouTube for a week or two at most, so grab ‘em while you can…)

The last of the four concerts on this virtual tour goes out next Saturday (10 April) at 20:30.

It’s the Paris performance from the 2015 iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour.
