Video Games and Vinyl

So over the last few weeks I’ve been noticing a growing popularity with Twitch streamers playing video game soundtracks on vinyl in between searching for a game or at the start of their streams. I’ve never really been the type of person to buy soundtracks for games or movies as i never really put any thought into them but i decided to give it a try and i have to say i absolutely love it.

It all started when i recently finished Doom 2016 and at the end when i reflected back on what i experienced i couldn’t stop thinking about the game’s magnificent soundtrack. So i decided to jump in and bought a few records as a treat:

God of War

Nathan Drake Collection

Doom

Anyone else here into video game soundtracks and have i been missing out majorly?

Video game music is the last thing I would have expected to appear on Vinyl.

I am hugely into game soundtracks. My collection is in the cloud though, not on vinyl.

Here is a sample.

They seem to make fantastic art pieces, with their beautiful covers and coloured discs!
I do listen to normal music on LPs but did not know that VG vinyl was such a big thing. The only one I have is from the Bioshock 2 Limited Edition, which came with an LP soundtrack.

Indeed. A very underrated soundtrack, and easily one of my favourites. It’s available on Google Play, along with lots of other Frank Klepacki classics.
