What are you listening to?

A band called “Rotting Christ” has taken a distorted guitar and vocals to Hindu worship mantras. It’s not a bad concept, and I’ve long felt that Indian mythology and religious scripture has plenty of “metal” material.

I had some stuff bookmarked, but Dissection’s Maha Kali immediately comes to mind:

Nice to hear vinyl for a change, not to mention some old school bangers.

My oldest finally went to Splashy Fen, she has been wanting to go for years. She said most of the bands all sounded the same, very little rock and the only real good mushy pop songs where from this guy: I like him too, even though it is mushy

I wouldn’t say mushy, more chilled. I love Jeremy Loops’ music and avidly listen to it.

Agreed, much more descriptive of the mood than my adjective

I also find in a lot of his songs he really captures the essence of what it is to be South African.

It’s so odd, I can no longer find any albums of Jeremy Loops on YT Music, only singles.

Did some digging and managed to come across them on the YouTubes, a band I grew up with and they were founded in Durban. I believe this album is from around 1995.

I wonder if anyone here knows of them?

Haha yes I used to listen to them back in school. Saw them live too.
