Finished Alan Wake 1, American Nightmare and Control. Tried Alan Wake 2’s “Final Draft”, but the game is unplayable for some reason on my PC. The cutscenes looks like it is running on a 486 with onboard graphics, despite my PC being higher specced than the recommended requirements.
It is nice to play the games so close together because then you actually remember the characters… and apparently, playing Alan Wake 2 on “Final Draft” mode changes the ending as well, so somewhat looking forward to be able to play the last game sometime.
PSA If you like (good) soulslikes you should play Wuchang, on game pass. I’m totally hooked on the game, nothing else is being played right now. There are games that have done combat better (Nioh, Kazahn, etc) but the level design here is probably the best since Dark Souls 1 IMO. It really is one massive interconnected world with lots of nooks and crannies to explore and shortcuts and connections to find. Some people complain that the map is confusing but I think they were a expecting a boss rush game or something. The levels are designed with exploration in mind, there is more to soulslikes than just challenging bosses and this game gets it. Although it does have those too.
So yesterday out of pure nostalgia. I clicked on a little game called “Strife” in my steam library, this game was shut down in 2018, so I did not expect anything, yet to my surprise I see an update issued on 22 May of this year, thinking this was a mistake and impossible, I did some googling, and lo and behold Strife is back up and running, currently only EU servers, but hek its a start.
Now I don’t expect this game is going to last too long, “S2 Games” is known for abandoning their games, but whilst its back I will play it as it is a nice little MOBA.
I’ve also been on a bit of a nostalgia drive and navigating between the following on Xbox:
Need for Speed Rivals
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered
Need for Speed Heat
Need for Speed Unbound
Yet to install others…
P.S.: The above are all on EA Play (and thus Game Pass), thankfully. Though I would like to revisit Pro Street, Shift, Most Wanted, Carbon, and Most Wanted.
I finally managed to get Alan Wake 2 up and running.
Turns out the issue wasn’t with Alan Wake, but a really, REALLY crap SSD. To be honest (since I’m not really in the hardware game), I figured that almost any SSD would be better than a traditional hard drive and thought the difference is mostly lifetime. I was clearly wrong and RogueWare is now dead to me.
As soon as I see the term “complex industrial system”, I am out, I like all the other words though like combat system and exploration. Just a personal thing, factory type games are not for me.
Put a bit of a pause on Wukong. I like the game but the fact that there is only one weapon type made me a bit bored of the combat system. I know there are many spirits and other ways to customise a build, but doing the same combos all the time is getting to me. I will definitely return to it soon though.

I finished Metal Gear Solid Delta. It’s a really good remake IMO. I do like remakes like Silent Hill 2 where they bring new ideas to the game but a 1:1 remake like this is also amazing. It basically brings the game up to the visual standard we had in our heads the first time playing it.
Started playing Deus Ex Human Revolution again. Trying a pacifist run
I never tried the legacy controls but apart from the modernised control scheme and some gameplay improvements (you can crouch walk now) it is very faithful. They kept almost everything as it was in the original game. The game is still broken up into the same smaller maps that are connected together. I’m really happy they didn’t try to turn it into an open world game or made the large areas just one massive map, I think this helped keep performance solid on my PC since the areas are smaller
Overall it’s very close to 1:1. Similar to the Demon’s Souls remake or the Oblivion remake I’d say.
My one complaint would be the cqc can (still) be a bit iffy. Sometimes Snake didn’t seem to know I wanted to punch/grab the enemy
Sort of in between games at the moment:
Playing some Soulmask, a crafting game where you gather tribe members and “convince” them to join you. The idea of enslaving someone, even an NPC, irritates me so I am playing it and not using that mechanic. I have one tribe member: a wandering NPC who asked me if they could join.
Waiting for the new expedition to pop on NMS. This time I am determined to get past the things that bother me with the UI to actually build me a big ship
And I’m still playing it, on PC now. NetEase have a packaged version of their MuMu emulator with Destiny: Rising on it for download from their website. The game scales so well to PC and has native keyboard and mouse support, including flawless controller support. Sometimes I even forget it’s a mobile game when playing through the emulator. It’s a refreshing take on the Destiny franchise that feels like it fits right in. And being able to play in first- or third person views is a bonus! I constantly switch between the 2 depending on what I’m doing in-game.
