At the moment you can’t go anywhere without tripping over a Battle Royale type game. PUBG, Fortnite, Apex Legends etc. have been the most popular games for the past while and so naturally everyone wants a piece of the action.
Back it up a few years and every game wanted to be an arena based Hero Shooter (Overwatch, Paladins, Battleborn etc.) before that was the whole Crafting Survival craze, and who could forget the mighty MOBA phase. Everyone wanted to be the next League of Legends or Dota.
