Sony scoring more own goals in the console head-to-head with Xbox. Hot on the heels of the announcement about no more physical media on the PlayStation, which was followed by Xbox launching its Disc-to-Digital programme, comes a series of rapid fire announcements from the two publishers and Kojima Productions.
First came an announcement from Sony to say that they’ve “made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT”.
Xbox followed that, literally 2 minutes later, with “…our partnership with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS is expanding to PHYSINT.”
Hideo Kojima then popped out this message to clarify that Sony saying “…difficult decision to step away…” was just corpospeak for Sony unexpectedly deciding to “cancel the ‘PHYSINT’ project…”.
Xbox were quick to formalise the announcement with a post on the Xbox Wire site.
Xbox stans immediately started calling for Xbox to make it an exclusive release.
