I tried embedding a youtube video in a couple topics, and see a brief moment of the spinney thing, but then the embed fails. I also see it was a problem for someone else too
I fixed that one for Aldyr.
I wonder though, are you getting the URL from the video (right click, share) or from the browser address bar URL (link)?
Seems like https://youtu.be/<string>
works, but not www.youtu.be, or any combination of youtube.com’s, both http and https
Edit: It was copy/pasta from the URL bar on desktop. I tried everything but youtu.be without the www, which I got from right click->copy url
Share buttons are so 2011. A url should be enough. If it’s only on this forum, that it has stopped working, perhaps it’s because of the recent discourse update? I can’t remember, if I posted before or after the update.
I think it was before
Then we have a few possibilities:
It could be youtube.
It could be firefox.
It could be ublock origin.
This is with the url
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qap5aO4i9A
This is with the share button
If you paste the URL as is, just change “www.youtube.com” to “youtu.be” and you’ll be fine. You can also remove “watch?v=”
I imagine it is the parser crapping out, which could be discourse, or youtube.
Ok, so there, if you want to share a youtube video, use the share button.
Nice to see another fellow ChilledCow listener.
Yeah, it’s kinda hard to determine as YT are always changing their policies on this kinda stuff.
I recently had a wtf moment, when he renamed to lofi girl
