Clothing brands

Continuing the discussion from 'Old' Clothes:

To add to hagars discussion on old cloths.
When you have to go get new things do you stick to a curtain brand or do you take that just fits you?

I normally buy certain brands since like x-trail does not fit well on me and it always feels unconformable.

Atm I al looking for slippers but dam R900 for a pair of sheep wool ones are just crazy but I guess that is the price of clothes these day’s.

whatever works, I’m of the opinion that i’m not a walking advertising board for companies so I don’t like clothing with massive amounts of branding.

Yeah, I don’t like massive branding. Would rather go for plain stuff.

I’ve always been of the opinion of buying quality over quantity. An example would be buying Levi denims, as I find they last an eternity. I recently bought 2 new pairs after buying my last 2 pairs 5 years ago and wearing them almost every day since. They’re still in good nick, but the wife said it was time for new ones…

T-shirt wise, there are certain brands that fit me better than others, so I stick to those brands (nothing all too expensive though). For work shirts, I buy Old Khaki long sleeve shirts when they go on sale at Cape Union Mart. The last time I bought 4 shirts was 2 years ago and wear them almost every day. I have 6 shirts I rotate during the week.

As for shoes, I end up spending a bit more. Having bad ankles, I’ve sprained each foot at least 3 times in my life and tore the ligaments on one once. I’ve felt that good shoes support my feet better and I shop around until I find a comfortable, supportive pair. So I don’t mind dropping R1000-2000 on a good pair of shoes (like Clarkes) for work purposes, as I wear them 4 days a week (sneakers on Fridays and weekends) and they last me 2-3 years. I have a slight sneaker fetish and own 4 pairs of low-cut, vulcanized skate-brand sneakers. I bought all 4 pairs at huge discounts though (between R200-400 per pair) over the past 3 years.

Lastly, I have a pair of Puma trail running shoes for jogging purposes, as the route I jog has about 200m of field and gravel that I jog through and normal road running shoes will get torn up quickly. I also didn’t pay too much for them (R700 IIRC).

TL;DR - I buy brand name clothes and shoes, but not often. A case of quality over quantity.

I generally go for what piques my interest, but price still becomes a factor.

Branded clothing for where I feel longevity is concerned (i.e shoes, jeans etc).

I hate clothes. I have never bought clothes in my life until recently. the things I wore since I left the house was the things my mom got me. Then, of course, it got to a point where I needed to buy new clothes. went to Woolworths, found 3 shirts I like and I bought 5 of each. clothes sorted. don’t care about brands. So I pretty much wear the same looking shirt every day even though they are different.

Don’t even get me started on shoes. hate them even more. I have one pair of shoes for work/casual and one pair for weddings. And recently my one pair broke. the shoe I wear was discontinued. I was sad. But my wife managed to track down a shop with one pair left so I replaced my broken shoes with a pair that looked exactly the same.

I don’t wear curtains…
But when it comes to clothes, I don’t care about the brandname on the clothes, I usually tend to stear away from brandname clothes.

I dont do brand names purely cos I cant afford it, and most of them dont fit me- Im at a weird size.

Plus being short - I can only find jeans that fits my shortness at Miladys currently - and even then I have to cut the legs shorter by about 5cms

As for shoes, I am very very fussy about that. Most shoes needs to be black, I have a love for new balance trainers - they are the only ones that fit my feet since I have a need for shoes that are 6 and a half, but that has been phased out, so I have to take 7s which means they are never 100%.

I also only own 2 pairs of tekkies, 2 pairs of sandals, and slippers. I dont need loads of shoes
