Coronavirus - COVID-19

I see that taxis aren’t allowed to operate. It makes me feel really bad for the poor people in the shacks and such. They have to stay there every day and then they have no means of transportation when needed. And many of them live of wages and will probably not be paid.

I feel so bad for them. I hope there will be some help for them during the quarantine.

I see 2 types of people with a total disregard for the lockdown: the poor and the entitled.

The poor will be forced to go out for supplies, and even keep working for a few bucks just to stay alive.

The entitled will feel that they are above the restrictions, invulnerable and wont be told what to do.

I was to some degree not too worried about the Coronavirus (alert, not anxious), given how many people have succumbed to, how many people are showing symptoms and the amount of deaths as a result. The positive outweighing the negative, 'til my Dad gave me somewhat of a reality check. People have lost loved ones due to this virus, something I had not been thinking of…

People are really suffering from this, so I definitely should treat it with a greater degree of seriousness, than I already am.

That last sentence - makes me think about the people living around here… :expressionless:

The day (or day after, can’t remember) it was announced that schools had to be closed due to the outbreak, the primary school across from us were having a fucking braai!

Damn these inconsiderate assholes.

Exactly man. It’s easy to say no it’s not that bad, it has a very low mortality rate and there are no deaths in SA yet. Not to sound like a doom prophet, but it’s coming. And what about the thousands that have already lost their lives around the world and left behind loved ones.

So yeah, I’m going to work at 14:00 today and then I’ll hopefully find out what’s gonna happen, but given the option I will stay at home with no pay. I’d rather not get the (little) money I make and be much surer I won’t get the virus and spread it to my loved ones. According to my friend who also works for the company the supervisor told him they cannot fire me if I tell them I don’t want to work, they can only say they won’t pay me. We will see though

Our body corporate is collecting pictures of everyone and anyone not identified will not be allowed into the building after 9PM.

Sigh people dont understand the point of STAY AT HOME. They will be the 1st to complain when the police give them a fine. for being outside for no reason. If you are not getting food or going to the hospital you must stay at home. this is not good because if people cant get this right the shutdown will be extended.

Cops are gonna stop people asking “Where are you going?”

“Shopping”. How the heck will they know. Or you know… Shopping for copper wire, other people’s food or electronics, etc…

24 hours to go people!

Freaking estate consider the roads private, and will continue to let people run and walk their dogs. Yet they are quick to point out the roads are public for any other possible reason, like parking and speeding etc.

The thing is, even with those two groups disregarding it, we’ll still have like two thirds of the country hopefully comply. That alone will flatten the curve sufficiently so that the healthcare system doesn’t completely collapse. People tend to forget that the staying at home thing is simply to prevent everyone from getting the virus, it’s to prevent everyone from getting it right now.

Quick question - we are hearing all kinds of reports that shops will run only from say 5am till 9am and again at night the same

Someone on the MyBroadband forums also mentioned that. I have no idea if it’s true or not.

The smoking i suspect is because this disease fucks up lungs - but people are just stockpiling tobacco now - I saw people with 6 of those BIG cartons
The alcohol is more a control measure I suspect - since we live in a country with idiots
