This whole topic could be a thread on its own.
This whole time I’ve been wondering if I should get Cyberpunk 2077 or AC Valhalla as my first Series X game. What I didn’t realise is that the actual “next-gen” patch is only coming 2021 at the earliest. Didn’t realise that.
So I guess I’ll wait until then before I get it.
Im waiting till it becomes affordable - Im not paying that money for a game right now
I’m ready for it on day one, but only due to buying a Ryzen processor recently. It was part of those freebie deals when buying AMD hardware.
thats why we preordered it before we even started with the wedding budget!
Factored it in day 1 wa ha ha…
cant wait! Less than a month before Cyberpunk!!!..and less than 2 weeks before wedding.
Hahaha the wedding is the important part there
New release date December 10th 2020
Well well well…this is not a good look for CDPR or the game. Having gone gold and STILL being delayed can only mean the game is either super buggy or poorly optimized. Neither bodes well for the launch, and I think CDPR management has handled the whole situation poorly. There has been many points they’ve walked back on (saying they won’t crunch, then crunching, constant delays etc.). At the moment I’m worried for the game and the state it will be released in. Surely this will mean there will be a massive day one patch.
And the additional delay certainly corroborates that anonymous Reddit poster’s story… that the game still needs a lot more work — counting crunch — before its finished, let alone polished.
I wonder what the external pressures are on the managers there (Adam Badowski and Marcin Iwiński) that after all this time they suddenly need to rush and crunch to get the game out the door. Some kind of money troubles for the company maybe?

No, CD Projekt had a solid first quarter thanks to the surge in sales of Witcher 3 due to the release of the Netflix series.
Maybe it’s a shareholder issue. The company’s stock price peaked on 28 August and has been in a rapid decline since.
Lots of speculation going around about the delay being due to Stadia.
I couldn’t care less about the delay. Gives me more time with Hyrule Warriors and Yakuza 7.
I’m excited for the game for sure, but I have not watched any footage or trailers or anything so I did not hype it up for myself.
Even if they delay it again to next year I’ll still be happy as I will always have something else to play until it eventually releases.
At the end of the day it’s just a game and waiting a little longer for it is not going to kill anyone. Covid-19 fucked up a lot of things for a lot of people but such is life.
Feel exactly the same. But then again, I am a Star Citizen backer, so none of this is new, or of any great concern, to me. I’m happy to wait and have more than enough to play until either Cyberpunk or SC releases.
Sad for the delay, hopefully there won’t be another one.
I too do not mind them delaying it, rather that, than some buggy mess with an 80GB first day patch.
However, they have to be careful as their public opinion is falling quite a lot now, I did not hail them as the best company in any case, but even I feel that they did not handle this well and even my opinion of them has soured a bit, that said, “this too shall pass” if the game ends up being great, most people like me will just forgive them and go on with our lives, jumping back on the EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard hate train. Putting all CDPRs flaws in the spotlight is just the newest fad at the moment.
Personally I’m going to wait until the next-gen patch that’s supposedly coming middle next year at the earliest.
So I’m wondering about this. The game is delayed and they have to work on it. But there are certain logistics that can’t be ignored. For consoles they still need to get the game onto media and shipped out across the world to stores. This takes time. There could still be a giant patch to download when it does get released.
…it seems that Cyberpunk will miss out on a huge opportunity. This definitely makes TLOU 2, Ghost of Tsushima, AC Valhalla, Genshin Impact, and Watch Dogs: Legion the top contenders for the same…
So, from that list, what’s the most likely Game of the Year recipient? Are there others that should be on the list? Paging @DieGrootHammer, MEWs very own Game Awards Show producer and host
Also, if CP2077 is only eligible for GotY in December 2021, they should coincide the 2021 Game Awards with a GotY release
I think it could be bad thing for them if they’re one of the first fresh releases to be considered for the 2021 GOTY contender. This enables CP2077 to set the bar and of course potentially be knocked off as other releases in the same vein will use them as a benchmark.
Can one do a GOTY on Honeymoon? I think this year we might need to spread the workload…
