That looks to be on a PS5 (mebe).
Also, they probably just took that 52GB “day one patch” (which was before actual release) and incorporated into their official release. Well played CDPR.

Probably right. But still, that’s a huge difference between the PC and PS preload sizes. Which probably means PC players will be getting a ~43GB Day 1 Patch?
C’mon, do something!

Strange, PSN still says 2d5h left before I can preload.
Sweet. I’ll start my DL after work tonight.
That’s a fair point. According to the global release time graphic up there ^ PlayStation preloading only starts 2 days before release, which would be tomorrow…
So where did the screen grab of the PS5 install of 102GB come from?
Review embargo has been lifted, and they’re flooding in thick and fast. Overalls are very good, one or two somewhat negative, notably a 70 from Game Spot and a 78 from PC Gamer, both of which seem slanted down due to bugs and technical errors:
GS: “Your mileage may vary, but in our experience, the bugs are obtrusive and substantial across the board, often forcing us to reload saves or exit the game entirely.”
PCG: “Some nice characters and stories nested in an astounding open world, undercut by jarring bugs at every turn.”
No idea if the reviewers are playing final release versions or if they still need launch patches to be applied.
Ratings are currently at 91 on both OpenCritic (based on 40 reviews) and Metacritic (based on 43 reviews).
It does seem like the reviews from what I might call “more reputable sources” have a lot of variance.
Decided to check out some unscored reviews at outlets I trust (Eurogamer and Ars Technica).
Here’s Ars:
The article excerpt says “majestic masterpiece”, but the Ars review has honestly left me confused about whether they liked the game or not. Their final verdict paints a much bleaker picture than the review initially lets on:
Verdict: Buy it to explore a gaudy, retro-futuristic theme park. But be ready to ignore the holes in the facade.
And here’s Eurogamer:

(no preview, it seems)
The biggest shame there, so far, is that so much is locked away so deep in the skill trees. The worry is that you’ll get too far through the story to fully enjoy even a narrow, specialised slice of what Cyberpunk offers, let alone the whole thing. For now, combat feels limited. The guns are serviceable, and melee is fun in a slightly sickening way, but very simple - think The Elder Scrolls, but even simpler: a weapon in just the one hand. The sense is I’m a good way into Cyberpunk 2077 but still waiting for its systems to really open up.
Still, they might. And its story might settle into its promising rhythm, now it’s gathering pace beyond the initial shock and awe. And Cyberpunk 2077 might also mature just a little more as a result. I’m hopeful, cautiously, of it all coming together. It’ll be quite something if it does.
Eurogamer has said that they will post a final review after the Day 0 Patch drops. I’ll wait until after they post that before making my decision whether to invest the money and time into Cyberpunk at launch, or whether to wait a few months for them to iron out the issues.
I don’t even wanna read the review blurbs but I saw Game Informer gave it a 9 so I’m pretty excited. Obviously it still just an opinion but I tend to agree with Game Informer reviews.
Come on Thursday.
That’s exactly how the PC Gamer review ends off - wait a few months. That’s exactly what I’ll be doing.
Yeah, sorry, I think it went live at midnight last night. Forgot to check again after then.
EDIT: Download started… 70 minutes remaining
I assume, by their brand, that PC Gamer would primarily review games on their respective platform, PC?
It’s almost expected at this point that PC gaming comes with a few more nuances (pronounced as bugs) than consoles, innit? I mean there are just so many more variables and edge cases to take into the mixture than static hardware that is the console?
All the reviews so far are on PC AFAIK. I expect my launch PS4 to have a hard and loud time with this game.
My steam pre-load is done and the PS4 one is busy.
I have heard that base consoles perform surprisingly well.
While I was happy to watch the trailers and the sneak peaks brought out by Cyberpunk themselves, I’m gonna do my best to not watch streams or reviews until I get it…I really REALLY hope my collectors edition ships the day before (raru says where possible they ship pre-orders the day before). My little 10Mb line is gonna take a while to download and my game code will come in the box, so I’ll only START the download on like the 11th or 12th
It’s strange that they didn’t send you a your key ahead of time. I thought it was standard practice nowadays that when you pre-order from a physical retailer that they send your download code while the product ships?
