Is anyone else interested in the lore of the Dark Souls games?
Mostly for me it’s all nice atmosphere in the game and then I move on.
I’ve enjoyed Vaatividya’s videos quite some. Theres quite a lot of speculation but the lore does run deep and he has a nice enough voice (#nohomo).
I do subscribe and have watched most of his stuff, I just find him too mainstream or commercial. I prefer the likes of ENB and German Spy.
Outside of that, I do like exploring it myself and with others, the lore is very vague and open to interpretation which is why I love it.
I am… the fact that it’s open to interpretation is best thing about it - only wish I had the time in the day to discuss it… I was borderline obsessed with it at a point.
Recently I am more into the relationship between DS1 and D3, how you go back to the room where you fought Ornstein and Smough and in DS3 it’s overflowing with water, the glorious chest is gone, your giant blacksmith from DS1 is now just a huge corpse - touches like that
Vaati is actually redoing a lot of his lore videos apparently and I really enjoy his content. DeModcracy is the more ‘fun’ side and illusory wall has a really great series about the level design which also ties in with the games lore at points
Exactly!
You weren’t the only one.
I love speculating on shit like this.
I sub to him but don’t listen/watch it too much, only when something really interests me, the fact that he’s redoing them though intrigues me.
Yeah I love the dissected stuff of IllusoryWall, will watch more into DeModcracy. The level design in DS1 is just mind blowingly intricate and complex. So well thought out and designed.
Busy playing through Dark Souls again on the PS4 and loving it. Taking a much more methodical process and actually paying attention to the world and its detail. Every so often I get to a point and reflect on what I’ve “done” by looking back and analyzing the world, get a retrospective kinda. I love how you can look around this world and see where you’ve come from, where you’re going, other connecting “areas” and just be astonished by it.
…I think I’m about to get kicked out of this sub. I have played DS3…I have played DS2 (and both dlc’s fully, altho ringed city only very recently as I waited for special hehe)
I have not played DS1…I tried twice, once when it was first released to pc, and I just couldnt get into it, as the copy I had was not KB/mouse friendly (all the instructions at start were in controller speak). Then again I think about 2 years ago when I had finished the other 2 and wanted to go back…I got to I think the 2nd bonfire and just got over it…it hadn’t aged well enough for me I feel…i got spoilt by the sequels
haha… I can definitely relate, but no judgement here.
I personally just love Dark Souls and think it’s the best in the franchise, but that’s my opinion. I have played through all Souls games in their entirity.
Currently trying to play Dark Souls then want transition into Dark Souls 3 with the same playing “style”. Also trying to get the Mrs. into the franchise with not only gameplay but lore too.
Can’t wait to add Boletaria to that list, hopefully the Mrs. can allow me to use 13’th check on a PS5
Recently watched some full comprehensive let’s plays of Dark Souls 1, 3 and Bloodborne. Started their Dark Souls 2 which got me looking at the game and mechanics and starting to investigate deeper, which lead me to this video. Now keep in mind I have around 700 hours in Dark Souls, so I’m not looking to hate on it, I just like learning about this stuff and trying to get good and bad opinions.
Went through Blighttown last night, and while it isn’t a terribly bad place, it’s still frustrating and painstakingly slow. Still think there’s worse areas, but I found this interesting…
I tried the firearm mod for dark souls 3 today. It’s awesome, thinking about doing a play through with it.
There is no a cheat engine table that allows you to enable a third person camera (and infinite ammo) to really make it play more like a shooter. I’m liking it a lot so far. It’s not really much easier than using magic I think. Shooting costs stamina so you can’t just hold the trigger down indefinitely; you still need to be aware of your stamina level and your surroundings.
I’ve been working on a 100% run and possibly lead into a Platinum run. Liking the pace and progression thus far and just got to Anor Londo, now the real fight begins…
Damn… And I just progressed through there and beat O&S last night, with Solaire I might add.
I’ve found it.
The only two items I’ve found which are not attached to anything, i.e. chest, body etc.
In Arch Dragon Peak in Dark Souls III you’ll find the Ornstein gear and near the gate you’ll find his weapon as well.
I had such a good time with Dark Souls 2. I’ll never forget that time that I played it. Will always be a fond memory.
My least favourite but still managed to pour 200 hours into it. Definitely grows on you like that shit in the Black Gulch. Seriously fck that place.
