Current Stage info for Event 2
I donât know what happened to my tyres at the service interval.
I saw the warning icon for tyres, so I changed to the recommended ones. They felt awful. I went off the track early in the next race and suffered from engine and radiator troubles for the remainder of the race.
Then I crashed hard again and got a puncture.
I wonder if the recommended tyres were not the best choice after all?
Round 3 of the Quattro Quattro Quattro Challenge is done! Spain, always a challenge under normal circumstances, proved too tough for a third of the 9 starters.
Especially crushing, Iâm sure, was @murfleâs quiet attempt to sneak a Lancia into the mix was spotted early on by the Rally God Quattro, and he crashed out on Stage 1.
On the DF side of things, our reigning champion @Boogey takes a pretty comfortable 2:37 win over @aldyr. He in turn was trailed a further 2:16 back by @Deadlypinecone.
@Dragonic âalways the bridesmaid, never the brideâ misses out on the podium again in P4, whilst @LazyDemoni did enough in the first half of the rally to stay in contention in P5, despite the struggles of his Stages 3 and 4. Last of the four stage finishers was moi in P6. DNFs but classified nonetheless were @Entity, @DarthMol, and Lancia loving @murfle.
These results leave the Championship podium fairly open still, with just one more event to go. @aldyr and @Boogey are separated by just 3 points in the P1/P2 battle. The same margin separates @Deadlypinecone, @LazyDemoni and @Dragonic in challenge for the P3 trophy. A bad run in Germany and it could be all over in a âSquare turn left, donât cut!â.
So that just leaves us with one last outing for the Quattro - a final homecoming dance around the old German military base roads and tank proving grounds of Baumholder.
Letâs have as many Dirt Rallyists give this last tough Quattro outing a go before we move back to a more relaxed season. (Talking of which, I will be posting some thoughts and asking for some input on setting up a season soon - keep an eye for that please.) But thatâs later - right now Mach dich schmutzig in Deutschland!
âwater temperature is rising, it might damage the engineâ uh, no it was the giant tree we hit back there that damaged the engineâŠ
and then
See you in 2 weeks

As the QQQuattro Challenge finishes up at the end of next week, Iâd like to start setting up the schedule for the Rally Like itâs 2021 Season to take us through to the end of the year. Similar format to our previous full season, but slightly shorter - only 8 events - with each event only 9 stages long.
The "are you a sadist Greg? settings - Forced Cockpit Cameras and Hardcore Damage - will be turned off for the season. And Long Service Stops will be scheduled every third stage so regular repairs can be done and new tyres can be fitted. I want as many drivers of all levels to get through the season and still keep their sanity. It wonât be complete Easy Mode though - Iâm keeping Surface Degradation and Time of Day & Weather settings up my sleeve to keep things challenging.
That said, Iâd still like to give all Club Members an opportunity to set up the season, so your votes on some polls please:
#1 - Season Rally Locations
There are 13 locations in the game. We only need 8 for this season. Select your preferred venues (up to a maximum of eight). The eight most popular will become the venues for this season.
- Catamarca Province, Argentina
- Monaro, Australia
- JÀmsÀ, Finland
- Baumholder, Germany
- Argolis, Greece
- Monte Carlo, Monaco
- Hawkes Bay, New Zealand
- ĆÄczna County, Poland
- Perth and Kinross, Scotland
- Ribadelles, Spain
- VĂ€rmland, Sweden

#2 - One Car, One Class, Many Classes?
Do we want a single car season (where everyone use the exact same car for the season), a single class of car (with everyone free to choose and change cars from one car class), or a different car class for each event?
- Specific car (note which one in reply)
- Single class (note which one in next poll)
- Multiple classes (select preferred in next poll)

#3 - Season Car Classes
If youâd like the option of all the cars in one class, or an entirely different class for each event, select the classes that you prefer here. If you chose âSingle classâ in Poll #2, choose just one class here.
- Historic Rally H1 (FWD)
- Historic Rally H2 (FWD)

- Historic Rally Group B (RWD)

Let me know any variations or other thoughts on these settings that youâd like to suggest or request in reply to this. Iâll leave the polls open until Wednesday/Thursday next week and then finalise the season on Friday or Saturday to start Round One from just after the Quattro challenge ends (so from midnight on the morning of Sunday, 5th September.)

Into the final week of the final round of the Quattro Challenge. Just 4 starters so far, only 2 of whom managed to get to the end of Stage 1 unscathed!
(Also just another day or two before I close the new season polls and start putting the year end season together, so if you havenât voted yet, get on it!)
Very slow, very underpowered âthe engine is not rightâ Stage 4, but across the finish line and sitting P1 for a brief moment or two
Quattro.
Quattro.
Quattro.
Quattro.
Right
Iâll remember this time.
Quattro.
I got an engine warning right at the end of stage 1.
Stage 1⊠Who the fâŠ!!! WHY?!
Quattro is kaka on tarmac, sies
Just 14 hours left to muscle the kaka Quattro around Baumholder if you want to.
At the moment, it looks like we might even finish the mini-season with a minor upset as podium places get finalisedâŠ
Coming up, the Season 5 detailsâŠ
Enough with the Quattro shenanigans Greg! Give us something proper like!
Your cries have been heard, your votes have been tallied, and my âcreate new championshipâ setup sessions have been done, and actually saved first time for a change.
Season 5 of the MEW Dirt Rally Championship kicks off a little after midnight tomorrow and runs through to the Christmas weekend. Weâre visiting the 8 most popular venues and will be using the 2 most popular car classes at alternating events. Hardcore Damage and Forced Cockpit Cameras are off, Assists are allowed, and Unexpected Events are on - watch out for that stupid drone camera now! As promised, each event will have a full Long Service Stop every third stage for repairs and tyres.
(Events actually start and end at 00:15 each Sunday morning.)
The Season will feature 9 stages at each of the 8 most voted for venues, in reverse order of popularity:
Because both the Modern Rally Group A and the Up to 2000cc 4WD car classes got an equal number of votes, weâll use both, alternating between the two each rally. Drivers are free to use any car in the eventsâ class. And you can stick to the same car each time or change it for every new event as you like.
The cars you can use for the 4 Up to 2000cc events ( Spain Argentina Greece Australia) are:
- Citroen C4 Rally
- Ford Focus RS Rally 2001
- Ford Focus RS Rally 2007
- Peugeot 206 Rally
- Skoda Fabia Rally 2005
- SUBARU Impreza
- SUBARU Impreza 2001
- SUBARU Impreza S4 Rally 2008
And for the 4 Modern Rally Group A events ( Scotland Germany USA New Zealand), select from:
- Ford Escort RS Cosworth
- Lancia Delta HF Integrale
- SUBARU Impreza 1995
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI
- SUBARU Impreza RS
Be sure to check each eventsâ stage plan - which Iâll post a little before the start of each rally - so that you know what to look forward to Most importantly though, have super fun time!

Season 5 Round 1 - Ribadelles, Spain
Viva Espana! Just when you thought youâd seen the last of Spainsâ blisteringly fast tarmac roads, along comes Round 1 and the 2000cc 4WD class to say âolĂ©!â one more time.
Whelp, I made it to the service area, but couldnât even do a quick fix on the critically damaged engine. Thankfully, it was damaged enough that I couldnât get enough speed to even crash! I was fully expecting normal wear and tear to cause fatal damage before finishing round 3 or 4, but alas, I made it back!
Stalled right as I got the the marshall, but hey⊠I made it
