Dirt Rally 2.0 [MEWRL]

It is apparently fairly common in LG TVs… Although I have mounted 2 fans over the circuit boards now, I have concluded its not any of the circuits that are overheating, but it is more likely one or more of the LED backlights causing the issue.

When I have some initiative, I’m gonna take it apart more and test each individual light. Maybe I can find a replacement strip if I can find the problem.

Quickly knocked out all 9 stages. I really enjoyed my time with a few of the stages and actually got to a point later in the series where it was like I was in a trance and the pace notes were being called and just absorbing into my mind, my eyes were fixed on the corners ahead as the calls came and all was going great. Just a pity this didn’t start earlier as I had a few meetings with rocks and road adges. That aside, I had no punctures and still found myself with lights throughout every stage.

A late pace note call on stage 8, and I’m off a cliff. :sob:

Αντίο Ελλάδα! Can’t say I’m going to miss Greece at all. I never seem to get a decent run there - and for me, that’s a pretty low bar to miss :expressionless: Like the food though. And the “opa” whenever I break a plate. I like that too. But I digress… you’re here for results. I got results…

The event results for Round 5 of 8 in Greece look like this:

Another event where a lot happened on the last day of the rally… We went from 7 starters on Saturday morning to 12 by the midnight cut-off time.

And it was another ding-dong battle in the front between @Boogey and @Aldyr. At the final chequered flag though it was victory once again for :trophy::1st_place_medal:@Boogey by just 25 seconds from :2nd_place_medal:@Aldyr. Ford faster than its rivals for the second event in a row. :3rd_place_medal:@Deadlypinecone returns to the podium, his Impreza trailing the leaders by some 5 minutes, but a good 30 seconds clear of the chasing P4 Peugeot of @LazyDemoni. A further 2½ minutes back, and putting a third Impreza into the Top 5, was P5s @Dragonic.

Second string placing points for the punctured @DarthMol in P6, the smooth driving @Beo in P7, the clunky stop-start @me in P8, and the last of the drivers to complete the full rally, @murfle in P9.

Taking an unexpected cliff dive and crashing out on Stage 8, while running in a healthy P5 at the time, @the9avenger9 is classified P10. Not listed as a finisher, but with 2 completed stages, @czc takes a point for P11, while debut driver @Grievous makes the rookie mistake we’ve all made: taking the “Retire from Event” rather than the “Quit to Main Menu” option on Stage 1. Nonetheless, he(?) picks up a first Championship point for participation - congrats!

With 5 of the 8 rounds in this season done, the Championship Standings look like this:

With 4 out of 5 wins now, @Boogey puts a little more distance between himself and @Aldyr, increasing his lead to 9 points. It’s still not enough of a gap for him to feel safe though, and with three more events to come, there’s still opportunities for @Aldyr to come back. @DeadlyPineCone holds on to the P3 spot, now just 4 points ahead of @Lazydemoni, who in turn stays a healthy 7 points clear of @Dragonic in 5th.

:us: Round 6 - New England, USA :us:

R6-USA

The US has lifted its travel restrictions just in time for us to head back over the Atlantic to the autumnal forest roads of the New England countryside.

Our collection of wonderful Group A cars (Ford Escort RS Cosworth, Lancia Delta HF Integrale, SUBARU Impreza 1995, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI, and SUBARU Impreza RS) will be waiting for you on your arrival. Whichever car you choose for the mix of gravel and asphalt in the US, you’re sure to have a lot of fast and furious fun!

Route-wise, you’re looking at a challenging three stage start to the rally. Two short and a long stage to start with, all on wet surfaces. Oh, and Stage 3, the long one… it’s at night. In heavy rain. :smiling_imp: A little more rain to watch out for on Stage 6, but the other five stages are all dry, with just one more long stage on S8.

That’s it. Two weeks to get it done. Or to leave until the last day again, whichever you prefer  See you Stateside!

Phew stage 3 was the absolute end of me :frowning:

A week into Rally USA, and just a couple of starters who’ve only tested the waters of Stage 1 and Stage 2.

Just the rest of today and one more week to make it happen!

Just 5 off the Start line and only 3 over the Finish line so far! You have until midnight tonight to get your USA run in.

Drag yourself away from Forza Horizon for an hour and get it done!!

Stupid game. Did an innocent little barrel roll on Stage 4, landed on my wheels and carried on driving. Got on-screen notification that I have been disqualified. Presumably I was driving the wrong way after rolling, but no warning or countdown as usual. Much sad, many stupid game!

Oh crap

Uuuugh… This is what I get for leaving it to the last day… I’m not gonna get my run in… :sob:

I struggled quite a bit. While I was mostly happy with my tune I battled to get it feeling good in tight turns and hairpins. But in the mostly straights and high speed sections it felt so good barreling down those bumpy 6s and 5s.

Overall I’m quite happy with my result, apart from a few errors on my part. That rainy night stage was the pits.

Yankee doodle!! After getting unceremoniously disqualified on Stage 4, the US Rally can kiss my hairy arse for all I care… but I guess I can make a note of the results for prosperity.

Round Six of our year-end season again saw the now familiar pattern of @Boogey and @Aldyr clear and free at the head of the field, a tight group of 2 or 3 racers trailing them by a few minutes (this time it was @LazyDemoni a stretch ahead of @DeadlyPineCone and @The9Avenger9), and the rest of us bringing up the rear.

Overall we had 9 starters and 9 classified finishers (including my DSQ, and @Grievous’ missing Stage 8 time). From the get-go, it was all eventual winner :trophy::1st_place_medal: @Boogey’s race. :2nd_place_medal: @Aldyr had a shocker on Stage 2, losing 1:16 to Boogey, and despite picking up a couple of stage wins after that, was never really able to recover. Across the finish line, @Boogey was a comfortable (for them) 1:34 ahead of @Aldyr. Trailing them by 2 minutes, but a similar distance ahead of his pursuers, :3rd_place_medal: @LazyDemoni hops back onto the podium again.

Filling up the Top 5, @DeadlyPineCone and @The9Avenger9 spent most of the rally locked together and ended the 9 stages with just 20-odd seconds separating them. @Beo in P6 and @Murfle in P7 both had solid finishes, while @Grievous’ missing Stage 8 time had him penalised into P8. Your’s truly, charming and delightful, and DQed, was classified P9. Maybe the game didn’t take kindly to the fact that the two of us used the Delta Integrale, and punished us for it.

On the Championship front, the five out of six wins for @Boogey have near guaranteed that he’ll be keeping his crown as the reigning MEW Rally Champion into the new year. 12 points clear of @Aldyr now with just two events to go, it’s going to take a complete disaster to have him give up his hold of the Championship trophy. That’s not to say @Aldyr is out of it, but P2 in the Championship is looking more likely than not. The P3 slot in the Championship is where all the attention is going to be over the final two races - despite finishing behind @LazyDemoni in the US, @DeadlyPineCone maintains his P3 Championship standing but by one less point. With just 3 points in it now, a bad mistake from either of them could spell disater for their Championship ambitions. Like we say: #DontDriveKak chaps!

:australia: Round 7 - Monaro, Australia :australia:

Stupid Aussies aren’t allowing travellers from SA into the country at the moment, so we’re going rogue and sneaking you all in under fake passports. Please practice a convincing Polish accent.

Luckily the cars don’t need Covid vaccinations, so the standard selection of 4WD 2000cc marvels will be available for you to use when you do get there. This is the last time we’ll have the Citroen C4, either the '01 or '07 Ford Focus RS, the Peugeot 206, the Skoda Fabia, or one of the three SUBARU Imprezas to hoon about the dusty Monaro tracks, so make the most of the opportunity!

The event stages look a touch tricky here and there, but nothing too scary for you all, now that you’re such seasoned pros. Stages 3 to 6 are all Wet Surface stages, with showers expected on the Bondi and Noorinbee Ridge stages, and proper rain on Yambulla Mountain. Be grateful that there’s also only some Dusk and Sunset stages, but no Night stages at all.

Good on yer mates! Have a crackin’ good time Down Under! Mind the bloody 'roos and don’t feed the wallabies! Crickey, yeah nah!

Just 3 through the Australia Start Gate so far. And only 1 of those enjoying a frosty Fosters in the post-rally paddock.

38 hours left for the rest of us to get done down under. (I’m going to try it standing up with a controller set on auto everything…)
