Jissie I knocked a few of them too, who stands there man. I also got that 1 left that @LazyDemoni got, twice. And I got 1minute fines. I also managed to scrub a front left on a pebble for a nice puncture.
I just haven’t managed to get to this.
Turns out Finland wasn’t everyone’s favourite. But every time I do anything in Finland I realise why the Finns have produced so many incredible rally drivers and champions. There have been 7 different Finnish WRC World Champions who have a combined 14 World Championship titles behind their names. Not surprising when you discover the roads they grow up driving on. That said, a lot of us seem to suck trying to do the same thing in the virtual Finland…
Someone who didn’t struggle much though was our reigning champion and current Championship leader @Boogey who claims another P1. This time around the win comes with a healthy 3:39 margin over eventual P2 finisher @the9avenger9. The first P2 this season for him also helps him leapfrog up the Overall Standings table. Making the podium for the fifth of five times this season, and trailing P2 by less than 40 seconds is @aldyr in P3.
Regular top half finishers @LazyDemoni (P4) and @Dragonic (P5) complete our Finnish Top Five. They’re also the only other two drivers to finish within 10 minutes of the winner. P6 at +16:20 was @WarRack101, with @TheeAlekai in the event’s lone Porsche another 7 minutes behind finishing in P7.
Classified at the back of the field, at almost a full half an hour behind, yours truely in P8. Last of the classified drivers in P9 was @Beo who retired after Stage 7. Not officially classified, but taking a participation point nonetheless, @murfle slots into P10 after completing Stage 1.
The Overall Championship Standings then after 5 completed rounds of the 2022.1 Season:
@Boogey and @aldyr close at the top and @the9avenger9 and @LazyDemoni neck and neck for the P3 spot. Still seven events to go to the end of the season, so things could still change. We’re off to snowy Sweden next. Let’s see how things look after that.

Stages | Routes | Conditions
Sweden’s rally stages are all on snow covered gravel roads. And there’s plenty more snow to go around between the start of Stage 1 - Algsjon and the checkered flag at the end of the Harma Stage 12 finish line.
As usual for this season, our rally road book takes us through 8 short and 4 long stages. The challenge this time around is that the long stages make up the final four of the rally. Time of Day alternates between Daytime, Sunset, and Dusk. And there’s a variety of Surface conditions to watch out for, including 4 stages with Maximum Degradation to navigate. Should be fun!
Off we go then! Sweden is calling. Gå och bli smutsig!
FWD, ugh will need music while I wait for the understeer to go away
This was a good event for me. I was focused on completing it this time instead of making good time. I barely left 4th gear
Drive it like you were forced at gunpoint to steal it.
My kinda car. I love the FWD cars. Perhaps due to so much time spent in Gran Turismo and other driving sims and the amount of time spent tuning them, granted that was on asphalt
One of my favourite driving vids is of this guy in a Pug 306, driving with his wife on the Nurburgring, and giving a RWD Bimmer a very hard time:
It’s a long vid, but just watch a few seconds from the timestamp
I love Green Hell, great vid, thanks for sharing.
Highlights from Day 1 of this year’s WRC Rally Sweden. Shows how good the Dirt Rally 2.0 environment modelling is, and how even the pros get caught out by the snow banks occassionally…
That surface looks so smooth and compact, it’s unbelievable.
Not sure if anyone else suffers from the brightness or is it just my TV? If the sun is in front of me I can barely see the roadway. I guess that’s the result of HDR.
Loadshedding has definitely made this harder for me. One of our slots is from 8-11pm, which is prime gaming time. I’ll make sure to get them in before next Saturday though.
3½ days left on the Sweden Rally Clock. So far just 3 starters and no finishers yet, so lots of opportunity for you to validate yourself by setting a bunch of green sectors! You can do it!!
You know how sometime you prepare so hard for something difficult, only to mess up on the “easy” bits? That was me on the snowbanks and small jumps yesterday. The car rolled several times on a couple of occasions.
I was probably being too cautious and slow, sometimes that makes it harder to handle the car. Ugh. @GregRedd had some green sections over me, and you seemed to be putting in some good times in the latter half.
Those four, long ending stages really tested me, and I’m sure my tyres were closer to ice skates by the end
I still had a good time!
This is so me, but on every part of every stage, not just the “easy” bits! My biggest problem has always been me being overly cautious and over correcting myself because I over think things. And that’s true of all the driving games, not just Dirt Rally. I’m trying to be zen and drive more naturally now. Hopefully it’ll help
Probably more fluke than anything else, but I did make a few small changes to my wheel setup after Stage 6 which helped reduce the amount of time I was spending drifting into the snowbanks in the first half. Going to try get 2 of the long stages done tonight before load shedding, and leave the last two for tomorrow. It’ll be good to be able to compare against others now.
