Dirt Rally 2.0 [MEWRL]

Well that didn’t start very well. Had some salmon rolls, killed some people. Dropped 14sec first, then later 32sec :see_no_evil: Also have to get my excuses in, Quest is giving problems again. So driving on a monitor like a Neanderthal.

At least the golf with a stock setup, is good enough as is. @LazyDemoni Some great pace on some stages. Potential is there, so I would take a guess, you are your own worst competitor. If I feel I’m uncomfortable with a car or stage, I take a break at the end of the next stage. :man_shrugging: Worth a try maybe? If you feel yourself unraveling.

Taking breaks is definitely how I’d normally do it. With loadshedding getting in the way, there are some nights when I can’t play at all, so I tend to bunch up more stages all at once.

I had a blast yesterday playing through all the stages in one sitting but the compound concentration got to me towards the end.

Some of those fast section are amazing if you maintain a level a focus. I thought I was doing really well but judging by the times, I was not

Group A might be one of my favourites. It just screams “RALLY” with some of the most iconic cars in it. The Lancia Delta has always been an interesting car for me. I love it, but it’s tricky to drive and has a slower steering rack. I’ve found the Evo to be balanced and easier to exploit.

Sweaty Sweden. Well, it was for me at least. I had the little space heater cranked up, the sweatpants and the hoodie on. By Stage 5 I was sweating plenty. Weird, what with all the cold, icy snow stuff all over. The irritations and disruptions that we had with Eksdom and the power that can’t be throughout the two weeks caused a lot of drivers to struggle to find enough time to practice and to put together strong rally stages. And the results show a few surprises, and perhaps the closest times I’ve seen for a place on the podium.

Some high speed sections make car control paramount as the road weaves through the trees. Then the track surfaces get all degraded and generally just kak. And then you crash at the one lone “left 2, tightens” and lose 15 seconds. Anyway. It’s done. We’re at the halfway point of the season with 6 done and 6 to go.

Nine drivers started the Varmland event. Four each opting for either the Pug 306 Maxi or the Golf Kitcar. I was the only one seated in the Seat pumping the Ibiza deep house tunes through the trees. At the end of Stage 12, the long and fast Harma stage, there were seven who crossed the line with four wheels generally pointing in the same direction.

Another comfortable win for :1st_place_medal: @Boogey - looks like he was the only one who didn’t struggle at all. Perrennial P2 racer, :2nd_place_medal: @Aldyr had a couple (for him at least) of poor stages leaving him 3m40s shy of the leader.

And then, trailing the winner by a little under 4m30s came :3rd_place_medal: @LazyDemoni who captured the third step on the podium by the insanely small margin of just 0.051 seconds ahead of @The9Avenger9! Their total rally times were 55:58.037 and 55:58.088 respectively. If I could split the points for P3 and P4 equally I would. Amazing driving gents!

The top 4 were in a league of their own again. In the junior class, I made the Top 5 for the first time, over 3 minutes behind, with @Beo a further 2m30s down the road in P6, and @WarRack101 adding another 4m25s to the rally clock to finish P7.

Classified P8 after Stage 11 (don’t know why Stage 12 didn’t register?) was @Dragonic, and @jaydogg86 was the last driver classified after he wasn’t able to return to continue the event from Stage 5.

Points for all the finishers then has the Championship Standings looking like this:

@Boogey and @Aldyr still close enough at the top for neither to relax too much yet. They’re followed - fittingly on equal points - by @the9avenger9 and @LazyDemoni. Warrack is in a little lonely P5, while @Dragonic, @Beo, and @Munage are also all three on an equal 17 points.

Just one point behind the three of them, (and poised to leapfrog the lot!) is yours truly. Mr Consistency (at least until this last round) @murfle slots into the Championship Top Ten. @TheeAlekai, @czc, @oltman, @jaydogg86, and @Deadlypinecone all stay on the board with points scored in the first half of the season.

Round number 7 is upon us already. The dusty gravel tracks with their hairpin after hairpin after hairpin, and the high speed tarmac stages through the little towns of the Ribadelles region in Spain await.

Stage 2 of this weeks’ rally is looking juicy. Second of two long stages right at the start, at sunset so a little light may be needed (if you saved them from harm on Stage 1 of course), and the road surface at maximum degradation. The other two long stages are also back-to-backs at Stages 7 and 8. And again, the second of the two is a sunset drive with max deg.

Go get dirty! ¡Ve a ensuciarte! ¡Andale ándale! :es:

At least until the second person starts this event

End of stage 1 report: already used my spare and the rear bumper is hanging off

At least I’ll be getting my point this time

The rain in Spain is not here, so we have fast, and relatively stable surfaces. I’m enjoying it but I’m scared to go flat out! A 5-right at speed (which goes slightly wrong) can still be terminal.

If you haven’t got started, vamos mi amigos!

I ruined my race on stage 3  kinda bummed now. Will see if I can pick up the will to complete it before Saturday.
I busted my lights somehow and could see fogoli, burned a whole lot of minutes. Took longer to finish a 7km than it did a 14km.

I got in early enough to get my 1 point. I’m happy

Maybe if I have power I’ll squeeze in some more laps. We got load shedding early today.

I’ve been spending too much time trying to find the right car and the right setup, I think I finally found it though.

I’m just worried it’ll all be for nought as I’ll likely finish in the bottom.

I don’t know what car you chose, but initially I also spent lots of time trying to tune the Lan Evo. I couldn’t find something that was balanced enough, so I just dude a Durban tune (lowered it) and called it a day.

Spain in the dry is loads of fun and quite fast!
