I found the Porsche to be surprisingly good (for me). The BMW and Aston are also nice. I’m not sure which I’ll go for.
Yeah, I quickly tried out a few and found the Porsche to be manageable but the Mustang seems to be the safest bet for me currently. Given I only test them with stock setups.
I chose the Porsche, it’s so much fun. It handle quite well but lots of counter-steer is required. It also sounds phenomenal, what a screamer! My soft tyres were shot in the last stage of the first set, which made things very scary.
Nice. Do you do much tuning?
Always like it when there’s a variety of cars being used. Three Starters so far, and three different cars.
Anyone brave enough to risk a run in the Camaro or the Mustang?
I was also happy to see the variety! I’m terrible at tuning and I just made it worse, so I’m on the stock setup.
The Mustang is actually quite nice, the Camaro less so. It’s got such a tiny windscreen, making it hard to see anything, and I really felt the weight!
The Porsche is nice on soft tyres, but they’re not lasting long enough. I’m going to have to adjust my tyre strategy. I hope nothing goes wrong.
I’m still trying to decide in car and setup through time trials.
I’m about ready to retire this round and I haven’t even started. I can’t even complete a stage in my trials.
Same with me. Just cannot get the throttle control right and keep over steering or spinning out after slow corners. Limped through Stage 1 last night and then stopped in frustration. May try some more later today just to get it done.
I crashed out in the first stage. Well my PC crashed and all the fans went to 100% so I’ve been too scared to try again.
I find it useful to upshift a gear to what you would normally have and keep the revs in the midrange.
Those jumps though! Stuff nightmares are made of.
You went with the Mustang! Brave choice.
Your computer really doesn’t like Dirt Rally, does it?
I thought I was doing fairly well through the stages to only see how far off the times I was at the end of each. Perhaps taking it too cautiously.
Also, Mustang felt the most stable to me.
Well look at that. Must be a bit rusty though as it looks like he crashed out on Stage 2. Nice to see your name on the board again @SlinX - come drive some more.
2 days, 2 hours, 22 minutes, 22 seconds left to get dirty down under!
@SlinX is sitting alone at the outback pub at the end of Stage 12, swatting flies, waiting for someone to join him.
I’ve joined him. It was rough but fun
Just the way I like it.
