Dirt Rally 2.0 [MEWRL]

Well imagine that… Guess where we’re going next, and which car class we’ll be using…

Wait… We still in Aus amiright?

We are. Until midnight tomorrow night.

Weirdly, yesterday’s time remaining was all twos. Today it’s all ones. (I had to wait ten seconds to grab it, but still…)

my fok that was utter kak. Rekt my engine on the first section. Managed to recover. Then on Stage10, finally managed to get past Greg. Only to take it easy on the next stage and somehow 360ing my car 3 times plus a puncture for good measure.
Stage 12 I was just done and drove it with zero cares.
Also night stages at the end of every stint when it’s just about guaranteed that your lights would be in the bin is from the devil.

What about it is so good? Your driving looked super fast and smooth, and the car seemed to track well.
It’s great to know things like this because there’s not that much varied content out there for the game.

Sure you can find YouTubers who supposedly have amazing setups, but they don’t always explain why. Then I find Reddit-tier information on Reddit and all other forums (somewhat useful but not quite).

For example, in this very class, some people swear by the Citroen over everything else.

I should maybe post the New Zealand stages sometime, hey?

Would be nice.

I’ll preface this with, I like car to behave a touch oversteery, though neutral handling, is the unicorn. But with oversteery, comes risk, when you approach your limit with a car. Making it oversteer, just means, it makes it more agile, and more likely to turn into a corner with less effort. The down side is, you land up with a car, that can be twitchy, if you turn in too aggressively.

Put another way, oversteer and risk go hand in hand. Understeer is safe and stable, often make the car easier to drive, because of a lack of twitchy-ness. But if it’s hard to turn in, it’s harder to hit an apex, and that is straight up, going to be slower. Between oversteering and understeering cars, an understeering car is usually the forgiving one.

I was driving with less care than normal, but the car seemed to be more in control than the way, I felt I was throwing it around. It turns in very well, but at the same time, if I turn it too sharply, I can correct, and it responds in time. Many corners were entered, waaaay too fast, and had to correct mid corner, yet mostly, still kept it going. I guess, I’m describing a forgiving car, and although, that’s probably the class as a whole, compared to the other cars in this class, it seems even more so.

I love the fact that often, all it took to take a corner was, a throttle lift, and a wheel flick :astonished: That is my way of hitting the slip angle in dirt rally 2.0. And this car, seems to love it.

MEWRL Rally Championship 2022.1 :new_zealand:

Round 9: Rally New Zealand | Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand

After the brash bush filled with bogans named Baz, we hop across to the more civilised Land of the Long White Cloud for Rally New Zealand. Hawke’s Bay is a region on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island. It’s known for its beaches and wineries. And filthy, dirty rally of course!

Event Period

2022-08-20T22:15:00Z2022-09-03T21:59:00Z

  • Starts: 00:15 - Sunday, 21 August
  • Ends: 23:59 - Saturday, 3 September

Eligible Cars
Five cars, with two versions of the Focus and three of the Impreza for a total of 8, to choose from this round.

Up to 2000cc (4WD)

  • Citroen C4 Rally
  • Ford Focus RS Rally 2001
  • Ford Focus RS Rally 2007
  • Peugeot 206 Rally
  • Skoda Fabia Rally 2005
  • SUBARU Impreza
  • SUBARU Impreza 2001
  • SUBARU Impreza S4 Rally 2008

Rally Route

Looks like the rally is being held over 6 in-game days Daytime and Sunset stages alternating all the way through. Standard 4 long, 8 short stage mix, with the Forward and Reverse runs of the Te Awanga Sprint stage the shortest at just 4.8 km, and the two Wainarama Point runs racking up 16.1 km each way being the longest. All dry surfaces again, but keep an eye on surface conditions in the first half of the event - six of the first seven stages are showing High or Maximum Surface Deg.

Off we go then. Mind out for hobbits on your way.

So then… shall I just straight up use the Skoda that aldyr was raving about? I think I shall.

Okay, so far I have played around with the Focus 2007 and Impreza 2001 (bug eye), also fiddles with some tuning and liking them.

I love those images you use for the cars, super neat! Do you know what the standings are after Aus? It was close when I was chasing others and I had some mishaps towards the end.

I like them too. I grab them from the Fandom Wiki for Dirt.

I swear I’ve lost my time again this week… sorry.

Australia results were insanely close again at the top of the timesheet:

P1 went to :1st_place_medal: @Boogey again, who managed to stay ahead of P2 :2nd_place_medal: @Aldyr by under 18 seconds at the end of the rally. @Aldyr actually took more stage wins through the event, winning 8 of the 12 stages. But, a 37 second mistake on Stage 3 was enough to have him chasing lost ground to the end.

The P3 podium step was an equally close fought affair again as well. At the end, :3rd_place_medal: @LazyDemoni held onto the trophy and champagne, pipping P4s @the9avenger9 by just 20 seconds after 12 stages of rallying.

Only two others reached the end of Stage 12 intact: yours truly, charming and delightful in P5 (over 9 minutes behind); and another 3 minutes later P6 went to @Dragonic. Classified in P7 was @Beo who got through eight stages before abandoning on Stage 9. Last of the classified runners was the returning to the scene @SlinX who threw in the towel after Stage 1 (and has since seemingly disappeared again :expressionless: ). Claiming his now customary One Point for One Stage, the dancing teddy that is @murfle claims the last point of the event.

Championship Standings wise, the close finishes recently are very apparent there too:

@Boogey and @aldyr are now both on 66 - Boogey’s having more wins being the decider. @LazyDemoni and his rival, @the9avenger9 are separated by just 2 points, but are now well clear of the pack. @WarRack101, myself, @Dragonic, and @Beo are also all separated by just 2 points, and all able to go Top 5 before the end of the season.

Four more events to run. We are in New Zealand with the Up to 2000cc cars, and there’s a number of times already posted on the leaderboard for us to chase.

I dislike these “over jomp mebe” signals.

For me, whenever I go over them, I’m not airborne. This makes me think I’m not going fast enough :slightly_smiling_face:

Exactly my point! I try to prepare and correct for the jump then nothing. And you’re miles faster than little ol me.

I keep thinking “I should stream my custom 1 stage” but I don’t want to put my viewers through that much pain. That’s what my puns are for

Disco Bear looks very good behind the wheel - an obvious sign that you should stream your next Stage 1 drive. Just Do It!!
