Morning all.

Starting to plan the trip to Eastern Cape for next week and was wondering, does anyone have or know of any app (web or android) that one can use to plan trips?

Umm, Google Calendar? Or just a spreadsheet.
I recommend Lekkeslaap for accommodation.

On the subject of travel… where’s our Egypt update and pics then?

What type of planning?

I do GMaps for directions and then mental checklist for stuff to pack. Consider if you want to stop and buy lunch or pack your own and where you can pull over to eat.

Google Trips app was my go to in the past. It was closed down a few years ago and sort of replaced by Google Travel, but that’s all web based and I’m not sure how adaptable it is to trip planning (mainly because I haven’t been on a trip that needed planning in way, way too long! :slightly_frowning_face:)

The other app I’ve used in the past is call TripIt Travel Planner. There is a Pro version subscription, but I think the (ad supported?) free version still lets you do a fair bit of planning. There’s also a web-based site that syncs to the app if I recall correctly.

In a class at the moment, but I’m really really amazed thusfar. Egyptian Space Agency is incredible. Hotel is really nice. Hosts are treating us well, looking after us. Learning a lot! And the absolutely mind-boggling amount of development happening in New Cairo/New Administrative Capital… Insane. Building a whole new city in the span of a few years. Going to see the Pyramids on Friday.

@Shrike - whatever happened with you hoping to get your pacemaker this year? Still happening?

Step 1 done, pacemaker is in but off. Step 2 is this Wednesday, where the doc breaks my heart and switches the pacemaker on to take over. Step 3? Well, will have to see how many steps there are after, I am very excited to have a semi normal life back

Yeah, I do use Calendar and Trello for most of my personal planning.

See, that’s all fair and well if you know exactly where you want to go and just want the quickest route there, which Maps seems to excel at.

Hmm… I don’t see either of those Google options on the Play Store. I did see TripIt along with Wanderlog which I am playing around with.

There are certain routes that I want to travel on and not just take the shortest/quickest way there. After all, the holiday starts when you leave home, not when you arrive at your destination.

Yeah, the Google Trip was closed. Google Travel is an online, browser-based tool now.

If you sign in there with a Google account you should be able to Create a New Trip:
