Bet you haven’t tried to cross that border during Christmas Eve?
No, I am not a masochist. The mere thought makes my eyes water.
View North. You can see part of the lodge they are busy building. Apart from the workers there was nobody there. And the workers are pretty far from the campsites, most of the time we didn’t even know they were there. No cell reception and a 3 hour 4x4 drive on the 35km from the gate to the campground.
Pure bliss.
greetings !!!
let me use an AI upscaler to zoom in onto your face
Stunning pics.
Morning all
Im getting tired of waking up to now power. At least it seems we only get 2 hour slots currently here. But its mental, one would think they will start sorting this kak out.
Even our mayor apologised for not being able to help out more with the stage differences, they cannot pump the water up fast enough at Steenbras since they have been draining the dam constantly to help us out.
I am thankful that most major robots work. There are a few that even had cops directing traffic
Got tired of having to drive around finding a coffee shop to work in during the 08:00-10:00 slot each morning, so bought a 1440W / 200Ah inverter + battery trolley. Tested it out today and seemed to power 2x PCs, 4x monitors, router and fibre ONT with more than enough juice to spare. By the end of load-shedding there was still about 50% battery life left. So we can finally work when Eskom decides we’re not allowed to.
Noice! It’s getting to that point where I’m considering investing or saving up for one.
Have another colleague getting solar today. Oh woe is me living in an apartment.
I decided against getting an inverter or anything right now. For now I’m getting by by working on my laptop when the power goes out and have a ups that keeps the internet up.
4 hour stints are killers though. My laptop battery doesn’t last that long.
Getting an inverter was one of the best decisions i made during last year.
What I don’t understand is… There’s loadshedding because there isn’t enough power for everyone all the time. So we all go out and buy battery units to use during the 'shed. Those batteries get charged while there is power, so we end up using more power than usual to charge our batteries. So… What’s the point of the 'shed?
Yes, yes, economies of scale, and only a small fraction can afford battery units, and you still use less from the battery than you would without shedding, and home users aren’t the actual target of the great 'shed, but still… I find it confusing.
It’s about managing when the power is used as well - charging batteries at night won’t cause Eskom any sleepless nights. During the day when heavy industries are more active? Problems. Offsetting load is a great strategy for managing problems like Eskom is facing. That’s why many countries charge less for power in off peak times.
Point of the load shedding isn’t necessarily to keep people from using power, but rather for the power station to not be overloaded. I know it sounds similar, but its not really the same thing.
My longer term plan is a full hybrid setup with solar power to charge some Lithium Ion batteries. We’re going to build a new house by the end of this year, so I didn’t want to invest a lot of money in a temporary setup at the house we’re renting currently.
Friday vibes anyone? Still so back logged with work myself that I could do with at least an extra work day so that I don’t have to spend the weekend catching up. Alas, the power of time dilation is beyond me. At the moment.
Morning everyone.
Been busy until 18:00 everyday with people from all sides of the world. Have a really annoying dude on at the moment that wants to skip everything because our equipment is ‘perfect’.
I guess the MyGaming folk read and watch the same subreddits, gaming news sites, and Twitter accounts as we do.
Either that, or they just read and watch MEW?
Afternoon people of the Palace, hope your day has been better than mine. It started without power and no water. Today is last sunny day for a bit so we wanted to do laundry but cant.
Had lots of people at the office for quotes, next lot will be on Tuesday to asses the carpet.
At least at the vape shop till seven so i get to relax a bit
