Friday. Nice.
Yeah, that actually loads beautifully. Thanks for the heads-up
greetings
Good morning everyone.
Says who?
What a kak 20 hours we’ve had. Unloading incoming.
On my way home from work yesterday, my wife phones me to let me know that our dog had slipped on the stairs, and she thinks his leg is broken. She was not able to pick him up well enough to get him into her car, so she needed my help. I put foot, and completed the last 20 mins of my commute in 10 minutes.
Got our goodest boy to the vet, our regular is not around, so a locum is “helping” us… the admin and support staff were brilliant and actually handled everything, while the locum told us that indeed, it is a fracture, and then started ranting about hip replacements in dogs. Luckily, the support ladies were phoning around, and got us confirmation that we can take our dog to Valley Farm in Pretoria, so that he can hopefully be operated today. For those that don’t know them, Valley Farm is pricey, but by far the best bunch of vets I’ve encountered, so we were happy to take him. Drove an hour and a bit, dropped him off around 20:00, got a call back with an update that he’s resting with some good pain drugs around 21:00. Got back home around 21:30, exhausted, but unable to sleep.
Wife didn’t sleep literally at all, so she got up around 04:00 to go to work and get a start on her deurmekaar day. At 06:00 I was woken up by my bank sms’s… Some fucknut was using my credit card to buy things from NICE KICKS MORGAN HILL in Los Angeles. I’ve never been, nor have I ever used “kicks”, never mind nice ones.
Went on my internet banking to see what was up, and I found ~20 other transactions, mostly pending, from Microsoft. I do have MS payments, but not on this bank account…
So I got on the phone with Capitec at 08:00. Getting the Kicks transaction disputed was easy enough, but because I had purchased from MS before, I needed to go through them first to ensure that it is fraud, and not a mistake somewhere. Halfway through this call, I need to fetch a surprise pakkie from the gate. After getting the pakkie, our cat decided to scare the ever living kak out of me by getting his paw stuck in his collar. He was moving as if he had also broken a leg. I nearly lost it, right there - poor Capitec Support Dude was so patient with me sorting all this out in between the actual support work! Finished with him around 09:00.
Tried phoning MS, but there’s just silence. A couple of minutes later, though, I get a bunch of persistent calls that are marked as spam. I answer the 4th one, and it’s MS calling back! They had telephone issues on their side, but sorted now, so they got a hold of me. I called back the official support number to just make sure that there’s no shenanigans. The MS agent was incredibly helpful with confirming that there are two other MS accounts that had my cc number on them, providing me with a ref number and a email with feedback with their investigation. The way to go is to call Capitec back and dispute those charges as well.
Been on the phone with them for nearly an hour now to get that done. We seem to be reaching the end of the process, but the call just dropped now while typing all this. Hope I can get the same Support agent!
How’s everyone else’s Fridays?
A bunch of admin, project management and meetings. Sounds better than your day, not to sound insensitive but sounds like you could use my day.
Hectic man. I can totally relate to having fraud to deal with on top of the pet stress. Had a similar situation of compounding stresses and events. Glad you’re getting through it and are coming right.
@Avatar I hope your good boy is doing better! I will be thinking of you guys. I hope you get all the crap sorted out!
We survived the week. It was a really interesting one…
I went to work today to setup the venue for a company Team meeting. It went well for the most part until we had internet issues and lost the connection to JHB, luckily it was a good thing, the guys used that time to connect and chat. Had a nice lunch and then I got to break down all the event stuff, took it back to the office, got home at four with instructions not to open my laptop until monday
Thanks, guys. Wolfie was operated at 1500, got the call that it took longer than expected but all went well around 1830. He’s gonna need a bunch of rehab, and he’s staying at the vet over the weekend, at the very least. As good as we could’ve hoped for!
Im happy to hear, rehab is a bitch but I am just happy they could save the leg!
Good to know about these instructions. I will instruct the moms to make sure that the rules are followed, since I won’t be home tomorrow during the day to supervise you
Holy moly man, what an insane series of unfortunate events. That’s hectic.
Hopefully, the money you get back from the disputed charges is enough to cover the surgery!
Holding thumbs for you here. Sending good vibes to the doggo.
Good morning everyone.
Hello humans.
Nah, I caught the cc thing in time, around R2k of transactions. We luckily have saving in our e-fund to cover vet costs - we’ve got ten animals, so in stead of having medical for all of them, we save a bunch on our own. We’re our own pet medical fund!
Sorry to hear of all the troubles - dropped any mirrors lately? Or is one of your pets a black cat and do you have ladders standing around by any chance?
Glad to hear Wolfie is on the mend. And sympathise with the credit card issues - like others, I know what a headache that is to get sorted.
Morning people of the Palace have a great day
Mmmmm.
Two of our cats are black. I thought them allowing us to feed them and stay in their house would’ve negated the bad luck.
