I need to find an affordable and competent barber around here. Paying >R160 is daylight robbery unless that is the going rate nowadays.

While I don’t have any balding, I do still shave it myself with the Wahl hair clippers. But even just to shave your head, a minute job, they still charge the same.

If you were in this area I could help. We’ve got a barber down the road who charges R60 a haircut. Cheapest one around.

R160 is really not expensive at all. An appointment takes, what, 15 minutes on average?That allows them to generate at most R640 per hour. Considering rent, electricity, water and consumables, they’ll be lucky to walk away with half of that. If they have half a day’s worth of appointments, allows them to generate around R1280 per day.
